In reply to: Nextgen Gallery error messageTry another gallery type. Alternatively try Nextcellent Gallery which works with NGG DB and photos, but it is open source and low-manpower. I have not had difficulty going back and forth between the two.

In reply to: ApostrophesI should add that the quotes thing started after the 4.0 upgrade. Roughly, since i don’t add new ones every day. And I think the issue in the older posts is related.
I don’t know if it’s okay to post a link to the posts, but if it is I have no issue doing so. I don’t sell ad space or make any money from my site.

In reply to: A 'Disable Comments' Setting. Entirely, permanently.I also don’t care for comments or trackbacks. The disorderly controls for this reflect an older period when those were more welcome. Time for an update one that “opts-in” to comments rather than assuming I want visitors leaving droppings around my site.
To Rimfya, the Bad Behavior plugin seems to work for me. I also dug a copy of Spam Karma out of its Google Code repos and use it on new sites, even though comments are laboriously turned off via the numerous steam valves and knife switches in the ancient WP UI.
To use WP without plugins is to suffer the default choices. And I rarely agree with those in any environment. The further WP is developed the less I agree with them, the more marketing is taking over. Like auto-updating. If I made a plugin to block that I’d call it Hubris. :^)

In reply to: [NextCellent Gallery - NextGEN Legacy] Are Captions That Hard To Do?Hi, Perhaps we have differing definitions of styled. What I’m lacking is centered or an option to do so. Or is this now a field with HTML needs?
Here’s the 1.9.21 caption…

In reply to: [NextCellent Gallery - NextGEN Legacy] Are Captions That Hard To Do?Okay, I realised something from doing it today, the link to the gallery appears when it is made. Would be useful to have it appear when photos are added to it. Sorry about that, have been posting single photos to the same existing gallery for a few days.
Again, thank you for your work. It was weird to see the caption text all over the place this morning.

In reply to: [NextCellent Gallery - NextGEN Legacy] Are Captions That Hard To Do?Hi,
The latest update didn’t help for me. The captions were off to one side or the other, the words spaced irregularly, some beside the photo, some not, sort of like children let go in a park. Back to 21 and all is centered again.
You might consider formatting buttons for captions if you want to get fancy with that window. A couple from the MCE set already used in WP, beyond that Markup for people who care enough. I am conditioned to put captions on in the galleries themselves because of the two fields Alt & Title Text / Description which I’m not sure I ever understood the why of, but I put the same thing in both. All I need is to display or not display that. If they could be changed from the Add Window that would be useful.
Speaking of which, used to be that a link to the target gallery appeared in the Upload Photos window when upload was done. So I assume we’re working on presenting a new workflow. But I’m not catching on yet.
Humans now working! One of the most useful features for me. Thank you.
Thank you. I now have locations on everything but Humans.
My issue with WF caching is that it kills other WF features I use. When it all works with no sacrifices of Live Traffic, we’ll talk. :^)
I use a combo of this sensible idea and my own invented words…
Tim, I can see the reason country blocking is part of premium, because effectively that’s what ends up happening eventually. My issue is that I do have items of global interest to share, so I do the flyshit/pepper granular approach.
BTW, I do appreciate Wordfence for all the power and info it gives me.
I can do it either way. Assume there is a cache table to drop or clean, but will wait for instructions.
Have this message in the banner above LT:
Wordfence Live Activity:
Call to Wordfence API to resolve IPs failed: We received an empty data response from the Wordfence scanning servers when calling the ‘resolve_ips’ functionHi,
I just checked, had LT open, there was a location shown on top. Refreshed the page and lost it, back to unknown.
I posted this in another thread, so I’ll start off with saying I have no association with them. Bad Behavior would be a good start. With http:BL working it will fend off a lot of stuff automatically, and ou can use its log to see what IP’s are trying and what their attempted payload is. The password guesses are often hilariously bad. Don’t be that stupid about choosing a login password and you’ll be far above the low-hanging fruit.
When you get a login attempt, if it is a username you don’t use, add it to the list in Options that automatically block someone trying it.
But first; Immediately click Block this IP. Then click on Block This Network and add it to the Advanced Blocking list. Label it so you can decide later if you want to stop blocking that IP range. That page will show if there are further attempts, usually there aren’t, but some I{ ranges turn out to be havens for login bandits.
