In reply to: Password protected directory and pages error 404For the last issue you mentioned try this:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/204514?replies=4Look at the last post of this URL:
https://www.webmasterworld.com/apache/3688208.htmYou need to create one file and edit the .htaccess in the password protected directory.
401.html
Create a 401.html file in a separate directory (or in root) than the password protected directory. In this case I created a /forms directory to hold the 401.html file. I then put the below error message in the 401.html file:
AUTHENTICATION REQUIRED<br />You need a username and password to access this area.
/protected-dir/.htaccess
Then edit the .htaccess file in the password protected directory. The authorization rules should already be set-up. Above the rules add:
ErrorDocument 401 /forms/401.html

In reply to: Can only see tag cloud when logged inAn update … after testing the plug-ins installed on the blog I found that the User-Cats Manager plug-in is causing the problem. The plug-in seems to restrict unregistered users and even some registered user levels from seeing the tags in a tag cloud. Not sure if this would be considered a bug, but I wanted to make others aware of the problem.

In reply to: Using get_the_category() in theme’s functions.phpThank you – that is exactly what I am looking for!
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Using get_the_category() in theme’s functions.phpSorry for not being more clear. I am actually trying to get an array of categories in the functions.php file for use in a separate function. For some reason I can’t create an array of categories in functions.php while using get_the_category(). Possibly because the SQL data or get_the_category() functions are not referenced in the functions.php file?
Is there a SQL command or another function similar to get_the_category() that would work and accomplish this task in functions.php?
Thanks for your help!

In reply to: Functions.php helpDid you get this to work?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: [Plugin: Profile Pic] Can’t upload picture, Is it Work on 2.7?In reference to the error message, I found that this only happens when when none of the profile check boxes are checked at the time of updating a profile. To fix the problem, in profile-pic.php, I changed lines 422 through 424 from this:
foreach ($raw_data as $key => $val) { $reversed_data[$val] = $key; }
To this:
if(is_array($raw_data)) { foreach ($raw_data as $key => $val) { $reversed_data[$val] = $key; } }
That seemed to work for me!

In reply to: Disable Mail SubscribersOne last note for anyone who wants to know how to fix this. I used the Role Manager plug-in and created a new Capability called Mail Subscribers. In the Subscribe2 plug-in file (subscribe2.php) on line 245 I changed the parameter “publish_posts” to “mail_subscribers”. The final version looks like this:
add_submenu_page('post-new.php', __('Mail Subscribers', 'subscribe2'), __('Mail Subscribers', 'subscribe2'), "mail_subscribers", __FILE__, array(&$this, 'write_menu'));
Now I can pick which roles have the ability to Mail Subscribers. Hope this helps someone out there!

In reply to: Disable Mail SubscribersJust an update – this is a feature of the Subscribe2 plug-in, not part of the main WordPress install. Unfortunately the plug-in doesn’t provide any settings to turn this off. I am going to try and manually adjust the plugin – at least I don’t have to change any WP core files!

In reply to: Disable Mail SubscribersI experimented with this more using the Role Manager. The ability to Mail Subscribers seems to be attached to the Publish Posts capability. If you can’t publish a post then you can’t mail a subscriber. If anyone else has any ideas please let me know. Thanks!
