Hi Aaron
After reading Jeffrey’s blog – How to Test WordPress 6.8 Beta?– I decided to create a stag site, install the plugin, and test. I am brand new to this, this is my first time.
Should I share my findings in this thread or should I create a new post in this forum or should I comment/report somewhere else? What’s best please?
Dom

Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WP Consent API] WP consent api has isues with other pluginsHave the exact same problem with the 20 websites I manage.
It’s very confusing since plugin Site Kit by G, when enabling consent mode, recommends to install plugin WP Consent API, but after doing so, WP Tools Site Health flags errors for 95% of plugins. I’m talking about plugins that have 1M+ install and even some made by G CMP Partner Program members!
I just spent hours trying to fix this via GA, and/or plugins, and/or adding scripts in .htaccess etc prior finding this topic.
Thanks @georgiganchev
Yes I am, and in previous ticket 4452052 (different topic) I had SG “Vladislav Yastreba” who said he believes “…Jetpack apparently requests the HTTP URL initially…” . That might explain why the SG optimizer plugin toggle button for the HTTPS enforce switches off… and why Site Kit by Google plugin tells me that sites URL have changed…
I have opened a new ticket : 4514886 – but thought you should know.
Cheers,
As @jbalyo mentioned in this thread,
Going to WP (wp-admin/customize.php) Appearance, Customize, Additional CSS
Add adding this code:
.metaslider .slides [aria-hidden=”true”] a {
display: block!important;
}also fixed the issue for me.
Interesting topic since I was wondering how some of my sites were showing only one Drop-in while others were showing two…
Also confusing is that only the object-cache.php displays details such as “Memcached Dropin for SGO Version 1.0.0“, hence why I initially thought that the advanced-cache.php was remains of an other cache plugin -than the SG Optimizer…
Thanks @pinoooo for your last tip. Doing the same (disabling and re-enabling the File-Based Caching option) fixed the issue for my sites missing the 2nd drop-in file too.
Hi @hahncgdev and thank you for providing us with a free version of your plugin.
- 5.2.7 also crashed my site yesterday – had to delete the plugin
- this issue was also reported by others in the “review” section, yesterday
- Today, I tested 5.2.8 and as it works (with php 7.3) I am back to using your plugin again ??
- as you know, many of WP users set/rely on automatic updates. meaning it would be great if you could please fully test your newer versions to ensure they will fully work for all WP sites, prior releasing them…
Cheers,
Forum: Reviews
In reply to: [404 to 301 - Redirect, Log and Notify 404 Errors] A Must Use@jdembowski thanks for clarifying, I hope you noticed I was trying to illustrate my review content with an example, and not aiming for a back link to boost that website…
I admit I had not read the forum guidelines – and I am still a bit confused since WP provides us with an editor in here (forums). So I now guess you assumed I was #spamming , which is too bad.
Will mark this as resolved, as has been after raising a ticked with Siteground, and so with the help of their technical support team.
The solution, for a Siteground Multi-Sites account ; what you need to do is :
1. Into /public_html
- have a (1st) “php.ini”
- have 2 x SetEnv PHPRC in the “.htaccess” file
SetEnv PHPRC /home/MyUserName/public_html/php.ini
SetEnv PHPRC /home/MyUserName/public_html/My DomainName/php.ini2. Into your website folder public_html/MyDomainName
- have a (2nd) “php.ini”
- have 1 x SetEnv PHPRC in the “.htaccess” file
- heve the “wordfence-waf.php”
SetEnv PHPRC /home/MyUserName/public_html/My DomainName/php.ini
Hope this will help, cheers
Hi Gerald and many thanks for the support
My php.ini file now content is :
auto_prepend_file = “/home/MYUSERNAME/public_html/MYWEBSITEDOMAINNAME/wordfence-waf.php”
auto_globals_jit = off
zend_extension=/usr/local/php56/lib/php/extensions/ioncube.so
zend_extension=/usr/local/php56/lib/php/extensions/ZendGuardLoader.soAfter the change, in WordPress CMS / Wordfence / Firewall / The “Protection Level” still shows as “Basic WordPress Protection” – I don’t know if there is a delay… will let you know if this improves by itself in the next hours…
Feedback with 5.0.8 and now 5.0.9
Two issues are now solved : the “popups notifications” and the “white screen when switching SG plugin nav menu” (described above in this thread).
Three issues are not fixed yet :
1. affecting all sites : each new version of the plugin switches back the MemCached settings to “off” (Disabled), it does not save my previous settings, so I have to re-enable MemCached for each website.
2. tested , the image optimization never ends.
> Why not add a grid / gauge / chart that would display how many images (or %) have been done and what is still pending. So that we could actually see if “where we are” with that process…3. with site running on .php 5.6 I cannot run the .php compatibility diagnosis check, it is frozen at 1%.
With 5.0.7, most of the issues listed before are still there :
. notification popups stay on the screen
– white screen shows (admin area) when switching sg-cachepress#/… next Tab #/…
– shows “Start Optimisation” for existing images while it has been done I believe
– cannot run the .php compatibility diagnosis check on a site using php 5.6
– each upgrade re-turns my MemCached “off” (Disabled), it does not save my previous settings, so I have to re-enable it !More feedback after upgrading to 5.0.6 :
WebSite (php 7.3) theme twentyseventeen
. Message : “The plugin generated 287 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.”
. Issue to not being able to turn “Memcached” on is fixed. I could turn it on.
. The popups messages disappeared after upgrading, but the bug is still there. If I enable options, I cannot close the popups. “Memcached Enabled”, “Insecure Content Fix Disabled” stay on my screen (as popups).
. When switching sg-cachepress TABS such as going from /wp-admin/admin.php?page=sg-cachepress#/images to sg-cachepress#/environment > I will sometimes get a white screen (admin area).
. The job about “WE ARE OPTIMIZING YOUR IMAGES…” has stopped BUT does not say it has been done. I have the button “Start Optimisation” as if I could start from the very beginning. I won’t try again because yesterday the server crashed and restarted – twice… this seems to taskload the server a lot…Website (php 5.6) with custom-made theme :
. I cannot run the .php compatibility diagnosis check. It stops after only 1%Hope this will help the team, thank you

More feedback :
upgrading to 5.0.5 did not solve the reported issues
then, since version 5.0.0, I also get this message after activation and after plugin version upgrade :
Warning “continue” targeting switch is equivalent to “break”. Did you mean to use “continue 2”? in …./public_html/diethylstilbestrol.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/sg-cachepress/vendor/squizlabs/php_codesniffer/CodeSniffer/File.php on line 1766

Some more feedback for you :
- upgrading to 5.0.4 did not solve the issue
- the job about “WE ARE OPTIMIZING YOUR IMAGES…” has been going on for almost 40 hours and is not completed – or has bugged
- I have 8 popups, such as “Insecure Content Fix Enabled” “New Images Optimization Enabled” “GZIP Compression Enabled” etc. that I cannot close and that occupy the whole right part of my screen
- When switching sg-cachepress TABS such as going from /wp-admin/admin.php?page=sg-cachepress#/images to sg-cachepress#/environment > I will get a white screen (admin area). When refreshing the admin page, the white screen disappears and admin area is back as normal, excepted that the 8 x popups come back too…
- “Memcached” function got unticked by itself when upgrading from 5.0.3 to 5.0.4 and I cannot switch it back on
The website front end does not seem affected but G PageSpeed Insights for Mobile can be improved…
Cheers,
Hi again
Since posting, I found your sg optimizer new version recent blog and great tutorial – however it says “don’t worry, the optimization will complete even if you close the tab and leave it to work during the night for example“, which makes me think there might be a bug still…
cheers,
