Unfortunately, the hooks are not functional with the Free version, but are implemented for the Classic Pro version and some hooks for the Current Pro version.

Hello kungfauxn00b, Thanks for getting back with me!

The only method would be to change the core files, however I wouldn’t suggest doing this as the custom changes will be wiped clean upon future update. I can suggest reaching out to a Developer to help with this custom change in the core files and for assistance in how to make the change without losing them upon update.

Unfortunately this would alter the core files for VFB, however you are referring to when a field is added the default “width” is set at Medium, but you want that default to be at small once the field is created?
