I prefer to stay away from modifying the theme’s functions php since I am not using a child theme and hopefully won’t need to any time in the near future. I assume from your side note you will be adding this option for “send to” so more than one email address can be checked to send notifications?

Thanks much for your input. It’s amazing how you keep up with it all with free and premium support! I think it best to attach the license to the client using your plugins. It’s a homeowner’s association so maybe the bundle would be cost efficient, even though for anytime soon they don’t plan to do any eCommerce, etc. But after some reflection they just may appreciate not just the Adv Option and Support but also the Download Protect. So, maybe the bundle would be the way to go and simply don’t install/activate any of the plugins not being used at the time.

One question on Download Protect…I assume any pdf links on the logged in side would still be available to logged out users if they have the link, right? With Download Protect, logged out user would not have access, right? I just tested one pdf out and I was able to access it while logged out with the link I copied while logged in. So, having Download Protect may be helpful for this client.

I was just looking at your Advanced option plugin. Don’t think I need the bundle anytime soon. But the Advanced Option looks good. BTW…is the Adv Option usable for multiple website not just one?

Do you have a youtube video tutorial on your plugin that shows install steps and this option? I assume when you said (in Mail tab…) you mean within your plugin?

And Just saw that WP-Members plugin has an advanced option for a fee that disables the default WP email notifications and designates the WP-Members email notifications. If it works, maybe I then won’t need to use your Mail tab option. I could then have the type of email notification content I want sent out automatically that shows WP-Member login page at the url and not the default WPlogin. Trying to figure out how both plugins will complement each other without creating conflicts. What do you think?

It also hides the admin toolbar for subscribers, which I like, instead of unchecking that option in each new user manually; plus redirects from WPlogin to Wp-Members login. May need to purchase that one. Hopefully, it won’t have issues with your plugin.

I am sorry but I am somewhat confused here. Where would I put a wpmem email filter? And what filter code would I use for required email and email2?

Thread Starter sharon135

(@sharon135)

I wish I could delete all my previous ramblings. I am so sorry. But this has been a hard process for me. I decided to uncheck moderation since I am the only one creating users. I thought if I did that when I created a new user, checked to send email to user, and activated it, the right email message would be sent to the new user.

But alas, it still sends the WP default login link that includes a WP default password, not the one I created. And it doesn’t show anywhere in the email text the password I created.

Here is what the WP default message says as example:
Subject: Your username and password info
Username: lot1xxxxx
To set your password, visit the following address:
<https://xxxxxxxxx.com/txxxxx/?action=rp&key=zWAkwPVX8zRn6UeTehz8&login=lot1xxxxx>
https://xxxxxxxxxx.com/txxxxx/

Here is what the “New Registration” email message says I created in the Emails tab:
Subject: You have been registered for [blogname]
Body: Welcome to Waterstone POA website.
Your registration information is below.
You may wish to retain a copy for your records.
username: [username]
password: [password]
email: [email]
You may log in here: [login]

So, I am still stuck with what to do. Again, my apologies. Really appreciate your help on this. What a learning curve this one is!

1. It seems now that I have experimented with a couple new test users that the first issue above happens when I create a user without activating. It sends an email notification to the user with the default WP login, etc. I THINK WHEN I FIRST CREATE A USER I CAN UNCHECK “Send the new user an email about their account.” AT LEAST USER WON’T GET THE ONE WITH THE WP LOGIN. BUT THAT OPTION DISAPPEARS ONCE IT’S UNCHECKED AND SAVED FOR FUTURE CHANGES.

2. Then when I go back in and activate that user, it sends the correct email notification to user with “Welcome….” but doesn’t show the password. AND THE PASSWORD SHORTCODE IS THERE. I SAW THIS IN YOUR TUTORIAL. I DO HAVE REGISTRATION MODERATED EVEN THOUGH I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO CREATES USERS. AND SINCE SETTING UP A NEW USER, UNCHECKING SEND EMAIL, DONT’ ACTIVATE, AND THEN SAVE, IN ORDER TO STOP HAVING THE DEFAULT WP LOGIN USED…I CAN’T GET THE WELCOME EMAIL WHEN ACTIVATED TO INCLUDE THE PASSWORD.

https://rocketgeek.com/plugins/wp-members/docs/customizing-emails/email-shortcodes/
“If you have added a password field to the registration process AND you have set the plugin to moderate registrations for admin approval, you cannot send the password in the “user is approved” email. If you intend to email a copy of the user’s login credentials in this configuration, you MUST do it in the initial welcome email. That means you will need to make some changes to the fields that are included in the default emails.”

THE WELCOME EMAIL CONTENT IS AS FOLLOWS:
Welcome to the Waterstone community! Your registration as a Property Owner & Member of the Waterstone Property Owners Association (POA) has been approved. As a logged in member you will have access to important communications, documents, POA meeting announcements, and published posts on a variety of activities and events available to you as a Waterstone property owner.

Your registration information is below. You may wish to retain a copy for your records. Please keep your username and password in a safe but accessible location.
username: [username]
password: [password]
You may log in and change your password here:
[user-profile]

3. I then go in and change the password. The user gets another email notification as follows, which I can’t find anywhere in the “Dialogs” or “Emails” tabs. And it’s missing the date of the change and the new password in the content as well.
EXAMPLE:
Hi lot134b,
This notice confirms that your password was changed on .
If you did not change your password, please contact the Site Administrator at website@waterstone….

I just deactivated the test user and reactivated it. And it actually sent the notification content within the “Dialogs” for new user registration! Yet, it didn’t include the password. But it had the right Welcome content and the correct url link, which is nice. Have no idea what is going on here. But at least there is progress, I think??

Any progress on this issue in new release? Have been trying to find a way using your shortcodes to hide on PROFILE PAGE.

On PROFILE PAGE: the only code I have there is–
[wpmem_profile register=hide]
And it still shows the “click to register” link and text.

I REALLY HOPE YOU HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS. IT’S BEEN A REAL MYSTERY TO HOPEFULLY SOLVE ASAP. THANKS.

Have you been able to work on a new release to solve this issue with my profile page? I am not using register anywhere on the site at this time as mentioned and don’t want any reference to registering on any page. If you haven’t had time, is there a code I can insert to remove it in the meantime?

Here’s a link showing you screenshot of profile logged out version.

I found this plugin if WP-Members doesn’t do this. Any compatibility issues?

I decided to create new menus, Logged Out and Logged In. It seems to have solved the problem by not using the secondary menu at all on the desktop and putting all secondary tab within the logged in menu.

I read over your page several times. But I can’t seem to get the secondary menu to only show on logged in on desktop. Here are the locations I currently have set up:
https://waterstonepoa.com

Primary Navigation = Primary Menu
Secondary Navigation = no selection
Mobile Navigation = Mobile Menu
Topbar Navigation = no selection
Footer Navigation = no selection
Primary Navigation (Logged In) = Primary Menu
Secondary Navigation (Logged In) = Property Owners Menu
Mobile Navigation (Logged In) = no selection
Topbar Navigation (Logged In) = no selection
Footer Navigation (Logged In) = no selection

Thanks. I will look over your non-plugin method first. The wp-mail-smtp plugin author said there are no issues with either WPForms or WP-Members plugins.

Thread Starter sharon135

(@sharon135)

Yep. I checked with theme developer. They said I need to use “mobile menu” for everything. Theme’s mobile side will not show a secondary menu. It works ok as theme developer said for my purposes currently with all the appropriate pages/posts blocked as on desktop using WP-Members.
