In reply to: [Testimonials Widget] Love this plugin, except for the super-frequent updatesUnfortunately, yes. I upgraded to 3.6.1 this morning, and all my testimonials disappeared, replaced with only the text, “Array.”
I followed the recommendation of one of the other folks in the support forum who suggested copying the code from the previous version of the plugin on GitHub, which resolved that issue temporarily.
Still, I wince every single time I see an update to this plugin, since I’m never sure what’s going to happen after updating.

In reply to: [WP101 Video Tutorial Plugin] WarningVersion 2.0.6 should resolve this issue with the missing api_key_notset_message.
Thanks for reporting this!

In reply to: Spellcheck broken? You’re right. When I first reported it here, I hadn’t tested it in earlier versions. Since I had recorded a tutorial video covering this feature in 3.5, I assumed it was only broken in 3.6.
And we know what happens when you assume. ??
After testing more thoroughly, it became apparent it was a wider issue, as seen now in the Trac.
Lesson learned.

In reply to: [Testimonials Widget] Love this plugin, except for the super-frequent updatesThanks for the follow-up Michael,
I migrated my primary site (WP101.com) to Testimonials by WooThemes and — after re-creating all my CSS styles — it’s worked just fine.
I still use your Testimonials Widget on my other site, WP101Plugin.com.
But I just updated to version 2.12.1 from 2.10 and saw that it broke all the CSS attributes. I had to re-create all my custom CSS once again, something I could have done just one last time by switching to Testimonials by WooThemes.
I’m sure these changes are done in the interest of making your plugin more standards-compliant, but I hope you can see why I still wince every time I see another update notification for the Testimonials Widget.
Thanks again for the follow-up, Michael. Much appreciated!

In reply to: [Testimonials Widget] Love this plugin, except for the super-frequent updatesHi Michael,
I respect your diligence, and your commitment to knock out bugs right away definitely sets you apart from other developers.
I just get tired of having to do the update “dance” multiple times per week across all three of the sites that make up the WP101 family. And I’m not just referring to the past few days; this is the definitely the pattern for this particular plugin.
Again, I admire your responsiveness, but would love to see updates released less frequently. I’ll look into the Testimonials plugin by WooThemes, and wish you all the best!

In reply to: 3.5 RC3 Customizer – Missing Header Image Panel, remove button outlineThanks for responding, Dominik. I get the reasoning, but it seems an odd omission from 3.5.
It’s also possibly confusing for beginning users (my WP101 members, for example), since the Header Image and Background Image panels in the Theme Customizer appear only AFTER one has visited the dedicated Header and Background pages and uploaded images.
Anyway, thanks again!

In reply to: 3.5 RC3 Theme Customizer – Remove borders around several buttonsThanks, Amy. I suppose that makes sense, but not sure about the implementation.
How exactly does one use a drag and drop uploader (like that used in the Background Image panel) in a keyboard-only environment? I can use keyboard shortcuts to navigate to the Background Image panel, open it, and navigate to the “Upload New” tab, which is highlighted. Then what? I can’t get to the “select a file” text link using keyboard shortcuts only.
Anyway, thanks for commenting on the reasoning behind the decision.

In reply to: how to make footer navigation menu in listI understand, and a footer like that one can be built using widgets. Four “widgetized” areas, each with a single widget in it. It’s how the footer in my own site (WP101.com) is made as well.

In reply to: how to make footer navigation menu in listIf you’re just wanting to add a menu to the footer, why not simply create a new Custom Menu, then add a Custom Menu widget to your footer?
It appears that the Mantra theme already includes support for widgets in the footer; all you need is to add the Custom Menu widget to the footer, and you’ll have added a menu to the footer without any unnecessary coding.
Beyond that, have you attempted to contact the theme developer? That’s nearly always the best way to get support with customizing a theme. If the theme developer doesn’t provide help, then I’d recommend finding a different theme provider.

Hope this helps,
