Am having the same problem. I already corrected the folder permission in the server, but I still get the same error.

This will sound stupid, but the FAQ says try looking at EVERYWHERE. Where is everywhere?

Maxheight – in your ADMIN area, go to SETTINGS – GENERAL. Scroll down about the middle of page. Look for MEMBERSHIP, there are two checkboxes there. Check ‘Users must be registered to log in to comment’

Bander2 – are you using WP 2.6? Do you have a custom folder for your photos and not the default wp-contet/uploads? Do you have your permissions set up properly in the folder where you are uploading?

in 2.6, and if you have a custom folder, make sure that you give FULL URL path to file. It says it is optional, but at 2.6 it’s not.

For your permissions, make sure that the system has read write permission. hope this helps

Seriously, I maintain about six blogs for different people. Two
different web hosts and FIVE of the blogs were down. The only one not down is the one in a WINDOWS SERVER. Go figure. Hopefully, the crisis is over

Ask your webhost if the email in your box is set up for DNS reverse look up. Many ISP including AOL and MSN, if your mail server is not set up for DNS reverse look up will not even accept your email.

Another reason, the box you are in, if it is using MailEnable the Mail transfer agent might be stopped.

Solution – ask your web host. ?? hope this helps

Dokieh, Am having the same problem, but for me it only started this month, as in August. I have other blogs that I maintain that the stats are still working, but for some reason, there are TWO blogs that I just installed about the last week of July that the stats just did not work.

BTW, this happened in both Apache and Windows servers, so I really don’t know what is going on. Don’t know which ones you’re using.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I’ve had this problem for over a year now and I have not found a solution. In short, I have been living with the UGLY permalinks for that period of time.

The good news is that it had not affected my Google ranking at all. True, my links are cryptic, but it is also shorter.

Good luck with your search. I have accepted a long time ago that my blog will always have UGLY links. Too late to change it now with over 1000 posts.

P.S., My solution to that problem, I rolled back my blog to 2.5 but how long I could hold off from upgrading, I don’t know.

I have the same problem. I run my blog in a Windows 2003 server. When I upgraded to 2.6, the Add Media had this links: https:///

There are THREE slashes instead of two, thus when I click on it, it is a 404 not found

No one seem to know the solution. I was here about one month ago, but the solution of using the default theme does not work. They said it was a CSS problem. But, I believe you are right. WP has issues with IIS and unfortunately, there for us, I don’t believe they worry about IIS very much around here. ??

The problem might be in the IMAGE ITSELF. I’m not a photoshop guru, but one of my photographers explained to me that even if ONE marker is messed up when manipulating the image (before you upload), it will not show on the web.

Let’s try the most obvious first- CMYK images do not show, only RGB. Check your image if it is in the CMYK format or in RGB. CMYK is standard format for the print industry, and a lot of big companies still send their images in CMYK format so that it can be used both online and print without a lot of hassle.

Second, try to make another copy of the image, as in when in photoshop or any image editor actually save a copy then resave. Hopefully, it will solve the problem.

Otto, thanks for the clarification. Do appreciate it. I’m not a PHP guru like yourself. (I am saying this with humility. Hard to accept it in a public forum like this)

But this has to be a problem with 2.6 itself. First, I noticed that the little icon for formatting the image is gone. Everything has to be done with the image uploader interface. The thing is, the image uploader HAD NEVER WORKED WELL with IE7 and though I’m not sure of this, someone just told me, in Safari either. I had to tell everyone to use Firefox if they want to have their images nicely formatted with their posts. (But this problem is for another discussion, not on this one)

Second, CSS, I can understand very well. But, I don’t believe it is a CSS problem on this one because the CSS does not generate HTTP links. In short, the problem is not cosmetic. Like what richmaster said, it has to be something that changed in that release.

All of us just want this problem to be resolved. We are all here because we support WordPress and Open Source. My knowledge of PHP is limited at best, but still, there must be something that can be done to fix this on our level.

P.S. I checked the link on the GALLERY when I am on the image uploader, it says like this:

https:///?post_id=2&type=image&tab=gallery

Notice the the 3 forward slashes? How did it get there? Where is it being generated from the code so that I could delete that extra forward slash. Hopefully that will solve the problem

Otto42, your answer this problem was based on 2.5, the problem is 2.6. Sorry to be a party pooper to your reply, but it does not work!!! I installed 2.6 for a BRAND NEW blog for a client and the image problem (formatting as in align left, align right, vspace=XX hspace=XX) does not work even on an image that is being pulled from another source.

As for uploading an image, forget it. It won’t even show on the page. I could see the image in the server, but when I call it, it is broken. In short, though 2.6 is supposed to be an upgrade to 2.5, it should go back to the drawing board.

Sounds like VISTA and XP, don’t you think? I know that this comparison hurts being open source guys, but truly, 2.6 being 1 month early, perhaps, it needs more SQA
