Well I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is yes, the problem was resolved, but the bad news is I didn’t do anything to fix it. It basically resolved itself within a few weeks. I assumed after it had stopped that it was just something in WP trying to update? But I would suggest perhaps calling your hosting service and seeing if they have any answers … I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. Good luck!

I’ve gone through all of them to the best of my ability with no luck …

I use Dreamweaver to FTP, and I believe it’s still working as well as it normally does but renaming the folders or replacing them didn’t seem to do me any good. (I did try clearing my cache each time and checking the website via https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/)

Is there anything else that might be causing this? I vaguely recall something going wrong with a .php file when I first started using WordPress and causing a similar “white screen” problem, but it’s been some years and I can’t seem to remember which one it was.

I’ve tried deactivating all plugins before but I’ll definitely give it another go and let you know how it goes.

Ah, all right, so I just tried switching themes and it looks like if I switch to twenty-thirteen it will still allow me to upload images, so that means it’s a problem with my hemingway theme.

I’d like to avoid having to edit my theme again from scratch if necessary. Does anyone know what could cause a theme to react this way/how to correct it?

Well, the thing is (I forgot to mention, my apologies) that I also have a test website up with the same theme (albeit not the same plugins or theme edits – I didn’t use a child theme for the main website), etc, and it will still let me upload pictures normally.

If it were a problem with my service provider neither would work, right?
