I think I’ve figured it out on my own. I want to share what I did in the event that anyone else is struggling with this. I made the page public. I then went into Appearance > Menus and selected the tab at the top that says Manage Locations. I set that menu as the Main Menu. I hadn’t done that so the site was relying on some default menu. I then went back to the tab for Edit Menus and took out the page that I didn’t want to show up in the menu. Presto. It worked. I just had forgotten to set the menu as the main menu. Simple.

It’s fixed!!! Amazing. I tried the chat option again with the web host. I wasn’t able to uninstall WordPress, but the tech guy was. I reinstalled it, selected https://www. for the beginning of my URL and that fixed it. Thank you for all your advice. It ended up being the option I chose (though I don’t recall what I chose – maybe it was https: instead of http:

I’ve chatted with the web host. I’ve called them three times. I’ve talked with tech support and sales. The same person answers all calls. When I ask him about this issue, he is unable to help. He pretty much just leaves dead air on the line and eventually I say that I’ll keep trying to fix it on my own. He says, OK. Done. The account is paid up for a couple more years and they have no refunds at this point.

I’ll keep trying the things you’re suggesting. I’m determined.

Thanks. It just proves that not even that image worked correctly.

I created the simple text, per your recommendation, but I don’t think I can use FTP to load it. Are you talking about something like DropBox? Can I go into my ftp files and create it in there somehow? If so, do I create a new file and at what level? Within the HOME level or public_html or within wp-content?

I’m pretty good at figuring things out, even when they’re over my head, but this one is whipping me good.

It doesn’t appear that I have an htaccess file on the server.

Where did this new name happen? I’m having the EXACT same problem – at my wit’s end about it. Where do I go to make that change. I have a different web host provider.

If you ever find this out, I’d love to know as well. I’m a professional videographer. Until a couple of days ago, I used Dreamweaver to do my website and I was able to post videos for my clients – easily. They were hosted on the host server and Dreamweaver had great video players. I found just using Dreamweaver so time consuming that my other work suffered. I have a WordPress site for my artwork and love it. Favorite website I ever had. So moved my business site over to WordPress as well. Love the look of it. Can’t figure out how to post my videos though. My clients provide me music to use in the backgrounds and they’re usually copyrighted music. Putting the videos on YouTube or Vimeo is a huge sign pointing to that fact. I hope WordPress comes up with a way to play videos without all the pain.

    Watching and waiting,
