@markrh I manually pasted “/wp-admin/site-health.php” for the URL and I get a blank screen with just this at the top:

    Wordpress > Error
Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

I have no idea why as I’m logged in to my site with highest admin priviledges.

    Hello @humayonk,

Wow you guys are fast! The latest v3.2.32 update of WP Download Manager works perfectly with WPDM Archive Page (Directory Addon) v4.3.3, so now there is no critical error when we go to our WP plugins page.

    Thank you so much!

    Kind Regards,
    Chris

    Greetings @humayonk

When you say “upcoming update” do you mean the next update of WP Download Manager? WPDM Archive (Directory Addon)? Or both.

Thank you all for your hard work.

    Kind Regards,
    Chris

We found Sermon Manager v2.15.19 here:
    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/sermon-manager-for-wordpress.2.15.15.zip

All of the sudden issues began with v2.16.0, and as of v2.16.2 there is still random nonsense occurring. The new owners want to make this plugin marketable, I get it. But they need to do more beta testing, NOT make unintentional beta testers out of all the 9,000+ current users. Because if that’s the case then people are just going to go back to previous versions, or find another plugins that will work reliably. (Especially one that fleeces the flock with a Pro subscription that is ridiculously expensive.)

We will stay at v2.15.x thank you very much, until Sermon Manager starts looking normal and working reliably again, the way it has been for years under the previous ownership.

    Best Regards,
    Chris

The same thing is happening to us. Now all of our sermons are suddenly appearing with generic text on our website and with no sermon images. We checked all of the plugin settings but nothing will make this go back to looking nice like it was a few weeks ago.

Can someone tell where we can download the files for 2.15.19? That was the last version before the new owners started making changes.

    /Chris

UPDATE: We found the link to v2.16.1 ZIP file on Dropbox. Accessed our website via FTP, deleted the sermon-manager-for-wordpress directory, uploaded the ZIP file, and uncompressed its contents to /wp-content/plugins. Sermon Manager seems to be working again, thank GOD.

If Sermon Manager Pro was a one time cost then we would upgrade, but $100 every year is just too costly. That is almost as much as web hosting. If it was $20/year then that would be more fair. We already pay for other subscriptions just so our website runs properly. ??

    /Chris

Same problem here. “There has been a critical error on your website” and WP says the the problem is Sermon Manager.

We deactivated all plugins using PHPMyAdmin just to get back into our website, enabled JUST Sermon Manager, and sure enough we got the same critical error that breaks our website. Debut info is below. Warnings point to the plugin not being able to find helper-functions.php even though it actually exists in that sub directory.

So now we are forced to downgrade WordPress to a previous version and stay there until WP FOR CHURCH fixes this problem that breaks our website.

    Hi @jamesosborne,

Yes, @ironikus was super helpful and put together a fix with amazing alacrity.

At the time of this writing, “Email Encoder” is at v2.0.6. The next version [of Email Encoder] should contain the fix resolving the issue with random text appearing at the bottom of a website homepage when “Site Kit by Google” is installed. After testing the beta I can confirm the output doesn’t occur even when logged in as administrator.

Should the issue reoccur in the future, I will reopen the ticket in the Email Encoder support form. Thank you for your time and attention in this matter. ??

    Warm Regards,
    Chris

    Hi @ironikus,

So… after typing a whole bunch of stuff into this www.ads-software.com support site, all of my words disappeared after clicking Submit. I really must remember to always copy/paste form submissions into Notepad before submitting, just in case I get logged out in the background.

Without going into a lot of detail… I backed up our “plugins/email-encoder-bundle” directory, then deleted the directory, and installed the beta version. Cleared the site cache and browser cache, and the issue went away. I even tried this using a different browser, clearing all of the caches again and again just to be absolutely sure.

So it looks like the issue is resolved. Great Work! ??

I restored Email Encoder back to v2.0.6 and will wait for the fix to be pushed out. If there is still a problem then I’ll let you know. Though from what I can tell the beta does resolve the issue.

    Thank you @ironikus! You’re awesome.

    Warm Regards,
    Chris

    Perhaps I spoke too soon… :\

After purging the site cache and the browser cache, even with the filter in functions.php the random text is still appearing at the bottom of the homepage.

Let me try the beta and see what that does…

    Greetings @ironikus,

Having worked at tech support center and being a netadmin for many years, I don’t mind testing. ??

    —-
    Here is what I did:

    1. email encoder settings -> confirm “automatically the best method (including javascript)” is selected and SAVE

    2. purge site cache and browser cache

    3. test homepage… text appearing at the bottom

    4. email encoder settings -> check “no script tags”

    5. purge site cache and browser cache

    6. test homepage… no text appearing at the bottom

    7. email encoder settings -> uncheck “no script tags” and confirm that “automatically the best method (including javascript)” is still checked.

    8. copy/paste provided php code into functions.php

    9. purge site cache and browser cache

    10. test homepage… no text appearing at the bottom.

    —-

Personally, I prefer using both plugins as each was intended to be used. As you implied, it’s possible that Google is specifying that email for a good reason and doesn’t like it encoded.

So as a permanent fix, is it possible to put an option like “[ ] Site Kit by Google Fix” in the Email Encoder settings? Or have the plugin detect if Site Kit is installed and not encode the email address? If you do issue a fix that does this, please let me know so that I can remove the redundant filter from our functions.php file.

Wow that was fast. You are certainly very good at what you do. ??

    Hi @ironikus,

I turned on javascript in email encoder, so first go to our website and see the bottom:

    https://www.shoreshdavid.org

Here is a screenshot of our Email Encoder settings:

    https://www.shoreshdavid.org/old-images/screencapture-email-encoder-2020-02-03-16_59_44.png

For “Site Kit by Google” there aren’t any settings to configure. You simply connect it to your Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and Google PageSpeed Insights accounts. (If you have Site Kit installed but do not connect it, then I don’t believe that will be enough to recreate the problem.) Here is what the SiteKit config page looks like:

    https://www.shoreshdavid.org/old-images/screencapture-SiteKit-2020-02-03-17_07_21.png

Here is the source code of the home page source when email encoder is configured for “automatically the best method (including javascript)”:

    https://www.shoreshdavid.org/old-images/source-with-problem.txt

…and here is the source when “automatically the best method (excluding javascript)” is ticked:

    https://www.shoreshdavid.org/old-images/source-without-problem.txt

Thank you for taking a look into this. Hope it helps. ??

    Greetings @ironikus,

Sorry but we do not have a staging environment. The only information that we can provide is that the issue disappears when either “Site Kit by Google” or “Email Encoder” is deactivated. So we went into Email Encoder settings and disabled javascript by changing the ‘Protect Emails’ setting from “automatically the best method (including javascript)” to “automatically the best method (excluding javascript)”. We will keep it on this and maybe someday this issue will get fixed.

There was someone else in the other thread (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/site-kit-inserting-junk-in-home-page-footer/#post-12392786) who was experiencing the very same problem. Perhaps they have a staging environment that will help figure out what is causing this strange problem.

    Thank you.

    Chris

    Hi Bill8,

For some reason my response to @jamesosborne never made it to this thread.

In our case… we discovered the plain text coding at the bottom of our home page was due to a javascript conflict between WP plugins “Site Kit by Google” and “Email Encoder”. We contacted the author of Email Encoder and he said that problem appeared to be “like some broken HTML due to a wrongly encoded email address”. In case you also have “Email Encoder” installed, here is a link to that thread:
