In reply to: Need to fix comment numbers after finding spam in approved commentsThank you all for your help.
Much for me to think about as far as keeping my old theme.
For now I am changing themes to a different one that is not broken ??
All the best!

In reply to: Need to fix comment numbers after finding spam in approved commentsI did have questions about that…
How do you fix a broken theme?
How does a theme get broken in the first place?
And is it really worth fixing a broken theme to begin with?
Thanks for all your help!

In reply to: Need to fix comment numbers after finding spam in approved commentsYes, all plugins have been deactivated and the numbers were still not correct. So it is not a plug-in issue.
I did switch to Twenty Ten and the comment number was correct. So it is a theme issue.
I then reactivated my other theme and the comments are messed up again…still no plug-ins activated.
So now I have deleted my theme and was attempting to reinstall, but I ran into a server error and wp would not let me upload my theme’s zip file.
So I am going to contact my server and see what happened and then try again.
Is there anything else I should be doing?
Or is it worth trying to use this other theme that is messed up?Thanks for your help!

In reply to: Need to fix comment numbers after finding spam in approved commentsOk so after resetting all the options I now have even more comments than I had before (at least numbers wise). In actuality I only have 26 comments on my blog yet going by the numbers that are listed now I have hundreds.
How does a theme break?
Just a few weeks ago I was able to get my site W3 Validated…
Of course then I added videos and a paypal button and got rid of some spam and now it is all messed up.Is there any way to fix all this or is it just time to get a new theme?
What if I uninstalled my theme and then reinstalled it fresh? Would that help?
Thanks!

In reply to: Need to fix comment numbers after finding spam in approved commentsThe only changes I have made on my original theme was by using the options that the theme came with. I have never changed any of the code.
So then by default I should reset everything to the way it was when I first installed it?
Or were you talking about if I had changed the coding itself somewhere?
Thanks for your help!!

In reply to: Need to fix comment numbers after finding spam in approved commentsOK I have found the culprit ??
I activated the twenty ten theme and the comments were corrected.
I did not rename my other theme since it was already named differently than the others. Plus I could not see how to do that. ??Now is there anything you suggest for getting my other theme back in place?
Is there a file or code I need to fix?
thanks!!

In reply to: Need to fix comment numbers after finding spam in approved commentsThanks for replying! ??
I just went through and permanently deleted everything in both my spam folder and my trash and I still have the same comment numbers on my blog.
When I checked my blog I just refreshed the page to see if anything had changed and it had not.
What else can I do?
Thanks.
