edit: I just realied this is a gutnberg PLUGIn support page. I’m just writing about the preinstalled gutenberg that comes with wordpress, so I’m not sure if you can answer my question.

I’m just learning gutenberg and when I write a post, I can write a title, then I can put a banner BELOW the title and write another title INSIDE the banner — which is silly because I can’t delete the title field above the banner. Why would anyone want to write a title twice?

I didnt write this post and don’t understand the answers, but if you look at the image, that’s what mine looks like: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/310628/use-page-title-in-gutenberg-custom-banner-block

So is there a way I can just replace the title field with a banner with a title in it? This is to make the content look more interesting.

    Thank you!

    Hi @reggiequestions!

Am I understanding correctly that you are using blocks to create your page (or post) titles, so you want to hide the default page/post title? If so, you could do that with some custom CSS.

Alternatively, if you’re using a Full-Site Editing theme (aka block theme) then you could edit your default Page template to remove the title block, or the Single template for blog post titles.

Once I can see your site, I’ll be glad to have another look.

hi, thanks for your response – i am actually working on building a few sites for the first time so there is nothing really to look at at the moment.

i didnt even consider that you could hide the default title field and make your own. we have to look into full site editing themes too. i know this isn’t much of a response but i wanted to make sure i get back to you bc otherwise it will automatically close.

will update once we look into other themes, thank you!
