  • OK, I’ve found that deleting blank lines at the end of (and throughout) wp-config.php has solved my problems.

You may also need to clear your browser’s cache before retrying to see if the problem has been fixed.

P.S. I’ve posted a longer reply on the other thread referenced above, but I’m not sure there’s much in the way of extra info there.

Hmm… Not sure how helpful this is going to be, but I’ve found that there were a bunch of extra blank lines in my wp-config.php files. A blank line had been inserted between each line of code in that file, and replacing it with the backup on my computer without all those extra lines fixed my feeds.

I had read that you sometimes need to delete blank lines that get stuck at the end of that file (and others), but just getting rid of the blank lines at the end didn’t fix my feeds. Hmm… although thinking about it now, maybe I didn’t clear my browser’s cache before retrying….

Anyway, the weird thing is that my one blog that still worked had the same messed up wp-config.php file as all the others. Dunno.

Long story short, check your .php files for blank lines at the end and/or alternating throughout the code.

Yeah, I think I’m having the same sort of problem.

FYI, there’s also this thread which seems to be about the same error. I’ve posted details about my troubles there.

Yep. Same thing for me. Here’s the error message I’m getting with three out of four of my www.ads-software.com blogs:

XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity
    Location: https://www.speculate.it/index.php/feed/
    Line Number 2, Column 1:<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>
    ^

I upgraded my blogs to ver. 2.7 shortly after it was released, but don’t know if the feeds got broken immediately or not. With the holidays and all, I didn’t really pay much attention to it. I just noticed the problem today when changing the theme for one of my blogs.

My three blogs that don’t work are:

    https://www.speculate.it
    https://www.speculate.it/sf/
    https://www.drane.it

And the one that still works:

https://www.drane.it/it/ (the Italian version of drane.it above)

Now I’m going to see if I can tell what’s different about the one that’s working and will report back if I find anything.

Yeah, that was it: .php files with zero bytes.

It seems to happen a lot. Is it my FTP software (Forklift) or what?

2- did you check files in wp-includes folder if file size of pluggable.php in upload equals file size in server? you should re-upload pluggable.php

Thanks. Yeah, I’m thinking this is the problem now, too. I think pluggable.php is OK, but one of the included files is probably zero bytes.

I just finished installing a WP blog for a different domain and found that I had several files that didn’t upload properly (all zero bytes). ?? Now I’m off to run a few errands, and I’ll check my other blog(s) when I get back.

BTW, I’m using ver. 2.6.3. I meant to mention that when I first posted. Oops!

run install in your new blog again.

Thanks, but I did that when I said above that I corrected it, so I’m thinking that’s not it.

To run the install again, I just need to refresh or go to the install address again, right? I’ve tried clearing the browser cache a few times, too, but I keep getting the same error mentioned above.

    Other ideas?
