In reply to: Local Development issue??Does anyone know if this plugin still works or is it outdated??
I’ve just tried it ONLINE and exactly the same is happening..i.e. NOTHING! when I click any link or button in its settings page.
Also, does the WordPress plugin search contain plugins that don’t work anymore ??

In reply to: Domain Question – GoDaddyGodaddy don’t usually allow their customers to use Multi-site as subdomains, they only want them to use sub-directories. I believe theres a way around this if you buy a dedicated IP but I’m not sure.
However if you’ve managed to set up you multi-user network using sub-domains on godaddy and its all working fine then thats good.
Yes the domain mapping MU plugin is how you map a top level domain to your blog. The way I done this was by following this tutorial:
https://ottopress.com/2010/wordpress-3-0-multisite-domain-mapping-tutorial/But FIRST as a godaddy customer, make sure you go into your hosting admin and point the domain you want to use to your hosting account root directory. The domain mapping plugin above will take care of the rest. So, to explain further you need to go into your hosting control panel, select ‘DOMAINS’ (the middle button above your IP address) and now add the domain you want to use to the root of your hosting (/). It usually takes godaddy about an hour to go through but this will point the domain to the correct place for the domain mapping plug to work.
Hope this helps.
I’ve just FINALLY and I might say successfully installed a WP network and domain mapped two child sites with their own domain and my next tast was going to be setting up my permalinks to show “%postname%” just like the OP. I’m using version 3.0.4 so I guess I’d better just stick to the default for the time being as I’ve already had to resolve a ton of stuff today so I don’t need anything else! EKk No. lol
Andrea_r, I’d be interested to know why the “%postname%” isn’t a good permalink to have?

In reply to: SEO implications of domain mappingOh yes, I hadn’t considered all the shared hosts with the same IP. Thanks everyone, you’ve reassured me it’ll be fine. Just me being my usual over-paranoid self I guess. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

In reply to: Issue with Sidebar positionIssue resolved.
I am using the wp-o-matic plugin and I discovered that for some reason the above issue only happens when I remove post comments. This wasn’t a major concern of mine so I just enabled the comments and it is all working fine now. Sorry I haven’t provided a solution for the people who don’t wan’t to allow comments. Maybe check with the plugin developer for an answer as its definitly plugin related.Forum: Fixing WordPress
