In reply to: [File Manager] Invalid backend response. HTTP error 502WPEngine isn’t willing to adjust the max_execution_time setting for their hosted environment. Maybe a paging option for directories with a large number of files could be added as an enhancement request for this plugin. Thanks for the quick response to this support ticket ??

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] Invalid backend response. HTTP error 502Sorry – accidentally posted this in the wrong plugin support forum. Moved to: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/invalid-backend-response-http-error-502-2/

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] Invalid backend response. HTTP error 502Correction – we have about 35K files in the root uploads directory.
Found this discussion online: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/how-to-handle-a-lot-of-media-files-in-the-uploads-folder-10-000/
I used an FTP client and can list all of the contents of the uploads directory. We host with WPEngine.com

In reply to: [WebP Express] Updating failed when updating a page or postThe HTML option isn’t enabled in the plugin settings. I tried using the WebP Express plugin on another WordPress site that’s had fewer plugins installed in the past. It allows me to update pages without the error. Not sure how to determine why it’s working on one and not the other. Maybe there are changes made by another plugin that affect WebP Express functions – even if all other plugins are disabled. I’m newer to WordPress, so still learning how to troubleshoot it. Here’s a partial list of plugins that had been enabled in the past on the site which might have affected WebP:
Imsanity
Redirection
Smush
WP Retina 2xMaybe another clue. If I create a new post with just text, I can update it multiple times without any issues. However, if I try to insert an image it fails to update. While messing around with inserting images, I discovered something. If I add an image block and use the upload image option, I get an error “The response is not a valid JSON response”. When I disable WebP Express, I don’t get that error and can upload the image fine and update the post without errors.

In reply to: [Imsanity] width or height exceeds limitWPEngine support’s answer to our request to increase the limit was “the limit on image size is currently not able to be increased beyond the 8,000×8,000 pixel limit” as of 4/10/2019.

In reply to: [Imsanity] Please add feature for WebP RewritingYeah – I was approaching Imsanity + WebP Express as a solution that ignored the legacy JPG format optimization and focused on WebP being the priority. The two all-in-one solutions I’m considering as alternatives are EWWW IO and Smush. Both seem to have WebP support. Just trying to decide if the cost is worth it for our use case. We donated to both Imsanity and WebP Express last week and will continue donating annually if we go with that combo.

In reply to: [Imsanity] width or height exceeds limitI’m getting the same error message when uploading to the Media Library or using Imsanity bulk resize on an image (8400 x 4632). The site is hosted by WPEngine. I contacted WPE support and they confirmed they have a restriction set (8000 x 8000) as of 4/8/2019. They are having their engineers look at possibly increasing the limit, but no guarantees.
Wondering if Imsanity can be updated to provide more details in the error message. Currently, when an upload fails due to size limits being exceeded, it shows:
“file.jpg” has failed to upload. Imsanity was unable to resize this image for the following reason: width or height exceeds limit…
If the message could include the limits, it would provide just-in-time help for our users. If Imsanity can’t autodetect the limits, then an option to specify them on the Imsanity settings page could be provided. So the error message would look something like the following:
“file.jpg” has failed to upload. Imsanity was unable to resize this image for the following reason: width or height exceeds limit of 8000 x 8000 pixels…
Thanks for considering the above @nosilver4u
Thanks for the suggestion @joyously. The File Block would work if you wanted to separate the link from a paragraph. But if you’re trying to add a link in a sentence within a paragraph it wouldn’t meet the need. Another way to accomplish this would be to give a settings option for what to include in that search feature. So you could select posts, pages, and file types. That would allow some filtering for media library items in case people didn’t want photos returned for example. But it would also give the option for all library items to be returned if that was what site editors want. We can always work around this by opening a second tab, finding the media library item, copying the URL, and then pasting it into the link address field. But that interrupts the workflow for editors and it’s a very common tasks for us. Our most common scenario is linking to PDFs (meeting minutes, studies, maps, etc.).

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Spelling-CheckI’m also searching for a spelling and grammar tool that is compatible with the Gutenberg editor. I found WProofreader and verified the spellcheck works. The grammar check is a paid feature:
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/webspellchecker/
I tried to use the JetPack spelling and grammar feature and couldn’t get it to work. Their online documentation doesn’t illustrate Gutenberg compatibility:
https://jetpack.com/support/spelling-and-grammar/
We may try the pro version of WProofreader. We don’t mind paying for plugins for business use. Surprised to see the WProofreader plugin only has 500+ installs though. We always look for plugins that have a broad user base to ensure it’s maintained into the future. The low number of installs could be attributed to JetPack being used in the classic editor for free though.
Has anyone seen info about JetPack supporting its spelling and grammar features in the new block editor? Or are there other plugins you found for this purpose?
