In reply to: Password Protected Pages Not WorkingI’m using PHP7 and tried the .htaccess information mentioned above.
Password protection works fine from desktop systems. It doesn’t work at all from mobile, users are just continually redirected back to the password entry portion. Finally got things up and working again. Had to remove the plugin altogether. I don’t know what difference it makes from deactivating to deleting, but I can now access the entire domain via ftp and make modifications again.
I like the plugin a lot, and it has many good uses. So I’m willing to give it a go and hopefully this time things won’t go all wonky.
Even without the information in the .htaccess file and with the plugin disabled, I cannot edit anything on the ftp server. This is very odd, everything else on the server I can edit. Just not under this domain. I don’t know what has happened. When I look at file permissions, they’re set to 644. As the admin, I should be able to modify these, but I cannot. I attempt to, and they revert back to 644.
No. Thankfully they go away. There’s no remaining bits in the .htaccess file.
Yes, that’s correct.
Once I disabled the plugin completely, the .htaccess rules were cleared and I could write to the server again. However, as soon as it’s enabled, I cannot.I have pretty much everything disabled that I can see, still no go. I don’t think there’s anything left to turn off.
Apache server on linux
php 7.2
mysql, I’ll have to look for the version on this, not sure off the top of my headStill having issues unless I disable the plugin.
I have file permissions enabled to the recommended settings.
Spam prevention is all activated
Login lockdown is on.That’s all I can see at this point. I’ve got everything else turned off right now.
That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out as well.
On the dashboard: “file permissions” is green and turned on. How do I turn that off?Firewall and Brute Force rules all disabled. No go.
Just gave it a go. Not one firewall rule enabled.
Filezilla failed to transfer the file. Reason: could not start transfer.Yes. That is correct. When the plugin is enabled, I get an error that I cannot overwrite or upload a file. When I disable the plugin, it works just fine.
I can access the FTP server.
With the plugin enabled, I can use a third party FTP program like FileZilla to download files, but I cannot upload or overwrite anything using a third party FTP client.Thank you for the quick response. My apologies for the delay.
Yes, once I disable the plugin and remove the bits from htaccess I can upload to the ftp server. Is there a way I can upload to the FTP without having to do this each time? That’s very cumbersome.
Small. Just a few KB.
