In reply to: What are these comments [summary]Otto42 –
Kinduva dumb question, but if my posts have no links to other posts inside my site, I probably don’t need this plugin, right?
Does that hold true for links somebody might put in a comment to link to anywhere else inside my site?

In reply to: How do you change the banner image on WordPress Default?Don’t forget to hit the “refresh” (or “reload”) button in your browser. Many things that you change using WP are not reflected in IE (for example) until you tell IE to reload the page.

In reply to: Can WP do image mouseovers?Hope this isn’t OT, but is your “image mouseover” anything like an “image map” wherein moving the mouse over different parts of an image and clicking loads another uri?
Just curious, and lurking around the forum for info on image-mapping.

In reply to: Images Aren’t LoadingThis appears to be a common problem. I had it a few months ago when I started with WP. I’m sure if you search around the forum a bit you will find your answer – I’ve seen it more than once here.
When I had the problem it was something I did wrong during the installation of WP on my host – if I could remember exactly what I did to correct it I’d post it here.

In reply to: Image uploadingOpen your WP Admin Panel, go to Options, click on Miscellaneous. There you have an opportunity to change your upload folder. I believe the folder identified there will be the upload folder ONLY when you are uploading from the Write Posts and Write Pages functions and the Manage Posts/Manage Pages functions.
Probably would be a good idea to create the folder first, I don’t know if WP creates one for you or not, but I wouldn’t think so.
In my opinion, the WP Admin Panel could do a better job (a much MUCH better job) with how it handles uploading files, but I guess we’ll just have to wait for that to be addressed in a new version.

In reply to: Where Does “mysql_fix-privilege_tables” Script Live?Update – I called Y! support and was told words to the effect that this problem is on their part, that it shouldn’t cause any operational problem that I would notice and that I should simply ignore it.
I don’t like to live with gremlins lurking in the background. This, and a couple other problems caused by Y! caused me to look for, and move to another host.
This issue is now resolved.

In reply to: Server- or Client-Side Image MappingI’ll try rewording the question:
Does WP support client-side image mapping or am I barking up the wrong tree here?

In reply to: directory accidentally deletdIf you deleted your MySQL databases and if you did not back up the data in them beforehand, the only recourse you have (that I know of) is, like has been posted earlier in this thread, to email or telephone your host and explain your problem. Maybe they have a backup that will help you and maybe they don’t.

In reply to: Which file to editGeekgirl,
To answer your question, yes, you can edit post text directly in the database by using phpMyAdmin but I don’t see why anybody would do that. WP the WPAdmin Panel for managing (editing) posts – that’s what it’s there for and by using it you won’t inadvertently muck up your database.
Actually, either way appears (to me, anyway) to be putting a bandaid on the problem rather than fixing it once and for all. To do that, probably best to follow Moshu’s suggestion.

In reply to: 403 errorDon’t know if this is particularly helpful, but I had the same problem earlier today. Couldn’t access several of my sites, got the ol’ 403 error.
Then I noticed my .htaccess file had something in it. I have been particularly careful about keeping it empty until I get a feel for what it does. Something put a bunch of stuff in it.
To make a long story short, I called my host who’s tech support tech deleted the contents of the .htaccess, then my 403 errors disappeared.
I figure the only thing I did that would affect that file was to monkey with the indexing of the site using an Index Manager found in my phpcPanel.
Now I’m back to the problem I originally went to the Index Manager to resolve…

In reply to: Using WPAdmin to Upload Files to Subfolders of /uploadGuess a not-quite-so-verbose question is, what would the URI look like that would point a link in a Page or post to files in /wp-content/uploads/folder1?
