It appears that the navigation button field has been reset at your end. Go to the Smooth Slider settings page ==> Basic Setting ==> Change the field for “Navigation button” and see if it helps.
Also change the size to 8 x 8 px.

If yes, you can add that post of different post type too to the slider. If you want to have a Smooth Slider from custom post type using custom category, then you can use “Taxonomy Add-on” for the purpose.
