First, just FYI that setting will only work if you update your theme to use the pmpro_displayAds() function or are using one of the integrated plugins (not Google Publisher Beta).
How do I do this?
I’m a newb and don’t know that much about how it all works. I tried creating a functions.php file in the child-theme but got an error saying that it can’t load the function because it was already loaded by PMPro. I guess that’s not the solution, but what is? I’m using Quick Adsense, btw.
I was going to just install Easy Adsense, but have you seen the reviews? Several people are claiming that it’s using the plugin to insert ads from the creator’s account to skim ad space off your site.
Of course, I know it’s the net and people can say anything, but I haven’t seen that many accusatory and negative reviews about a plugin before, so I’m just wary.
Tested it again today and I can’t reproduce the problem of “big blank square and little grey boxes” so that’s good. Don’t know why though. I’m doing exactly the same thing as I did yesterday.
However, there is still no excerpt showing at all. Can’t get that to work.
Also, I realized that there is no message shown to replace the hidden content. It’s all set up in settings but not showing on the web pages.
Any idea why this is happening?
I contacted PayPal about this and they said that I “need to set L_PAYMENTREQUEST_0_ITEMCATEGORY0=Digital in SetExpressCheckout API.”
I know NOTHING about what this is supposed to mean. I’m not a programmer.
But I did poke around in the folders a bit. I found one called “paid-memberships-pro/classes/gateways” and the names of the files seem to indicate that it’s in here that I need to add this line. The file in question would be class.pmprogateway_paypalexpress right? I imagine the change required is a very small one… but what? No idea…
P.S. To clarify my first post, using PayPal Express Checkout is working fine. I have no problem with that other than the fact that I’m being charged exorbitant fees.
Oops. Forgot to check resolved.
After more research, I came across some posts that suggested the plugin WP-Mail-SMTP. I tried it and now it seems to be sending out the emails.
