an alternative way to install Smartsupp in case the plugin is not compatible with your version of WordPress is to insert the code manually into the website header. We have a tutorial available here:

This way, the chat should be displayed on your whole website.

If you manually insert the code in the editor, then you can uninstall the plugin, as it’s not necessary.

That may actually be the problem, we recommend testing this on some public testing page, which is fully accessible from the internet. Smartsupp may not be working properly in localhost or restricted environment. If you are able to publish the website somewhere, and the chat is still not shown, even after it’s published, please send us a link and we can look into it then.

Is it really necessary for other users to have access to plugin settings in WordPress? You, as an administrator, can just install and activate the plugin in WordPress.
After the chat is installed and Smartsupp account connected, everything can be done from Smartsupp dashboard: https://dashboard.smartsupp.com/v2

You can create access for all of your agents: https://dashboard.smartsupp.com/settings/agents

After you create access for them, they can log in with their own email address and password to the dashboard. If you give them full access, they will be able to change settings (options, colors, language, texts…) and they will also be able to chat with your visitors.
So, in conclusion, all you have to do in WordPress administration is to just install and activate the plugin. Everything else can be done from the dashboard, where you can give other users access.
