In reply to: [Jetpack Social] Could not update Social Connections errorI think that’s it sorted now, I guess the changes you made at your end did the trick – many thanks.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] RSS feeds not working with Yoast enabledHi – thanks for the info.
I must say that I’d not noticed those settings before, so don’t remember setting them to ‘on’. I’m not completely sure what happened, but it looks like the feeds are now working. (mostly, the ones still misbehaving aren’t yours!) So, thanks again for sorting.
Cheers

In reply to: [Featured Image from URL (FIFU)] FIFU / Flickr embed slideshowThanks for looking into this so promptly. I downloaded 4.9.0… it didn’t make a difference.
But I decided maybe this happened longer ago and installed 4.8.0. That sorted the problem, or seems to have. I don’t have time just now but will later on try some of the versions in-between. I’ll also send you the status and code if it will help, but for now I have both plugins working so it’s not urgent for myself.

In reply to: [Jetpack Social] Posts not appearing on FB or InstagramHi – thanks, but that didn’t work. It forces me to login again (I’m logged in already), sometimes it will send an email link and sometimes not. When it does I can get onto the Social page but click on Manage Social Connections and end up stuck in a login loop. It’s ok if it’s not an incognito window but the disconnecting doesn’t fix the FB problem. Is there some other way to delete the token before reconnecting?

In reply to: [Jetpack Social] Posts not appearing on FB or InstagramHi Erin – well, thanks very much for your reply. In fact, it was the previous Insta post which failed, but the newest one actually worked! So I suppose previously our pix didn’t meet their guidelines for some reason, I’ll check that.
FB is still a mystery though, it seems to be connected fine – can’t post screendumps here I don’t think but the box for is this music? under Jetpack Social settings in the post window is checked (it’d be greyed out otherwise) and if I go from ‘Settings’ there to wordpress.com/marketing/connections it tells me I’m “Sharing posts to your Facebook page” (the option being to Disconnect – connection available to all editors etc checked). Anything else I can do?Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Flickr / Jetpack conflictHi Cena – ah, I see, I’m not using the block editor. If your setup is working ok it must be that the block somehow allows the images to work, or the block comes from a Jetpack widget (?), so I would expect the two to have been tested together. (it’s not really an option for me, partly because I have many old posts with embedded slideshows which won’t work any more and which I don’t have time to rewrite with each image/slideshow in a block). As I probably said, I am simply using the embed code from the image or photo set, pasted inline.
By the way, I did a quick test, switching to the 2023 theme and turning acceleration on (I already disabled all plugins and isolated the Jetpack plugin with image setting as the common factor). Same results, so I can be confident the conflict is between Jetpack’s image setting and the ‘raw’ Flickr embed.
Thanks

In reply to: [Songkick Concerts and Festivals] Old events still displayingHi- thanks, I’d assumed that since the Songkick website itself was ok it must be the plugin, but clearly not – since you were in touch with them it seems to be sorted. So many thanks for that!
Aside from login and security plugins and the likes of Heartbeat and QueryMonitor, all I have in that ballpark are Google XML Sitemaps, Jetpack, Litespeed Cache, Cloudflare, Onesignal Push, Secondary Title, Wordfence and Yoast. I don’t think any of these use feeds and they’re all pretty common… I could try turning everything off sometime when I publish a new item I guess…
No worries, know you have other work to get on with aside from the plugin! Er, I think you described how the theme works, yes, the featured image is always at the top of a post and it also shows up in the home page whenever it’s the newest article, and yes, in the section listings as well.
So from what you say it shouldn’t rely on getting the image from a GN crawl (which is just as well since I’m not sure Google News bothers to crawl it anyway!)
All I can say apart from that is it was working fine until a few months ago. We know Google constantly moves the goalposts in everything it does so I’m not surprised that something has got broken!
Hi Chris – no, I just add a simple featured image from the dialog – can be .jpg or more often than not .png, sometimes over 800, usually not. As you say, none appear, but the feeds don’t go back very far i.e. as far as August when the problem began.
(By the way, I have another site – isthismusic.com – which is in Publisher in draft mode, so it’s no real test but its preview seems to have a similar problem – Google is picking up images from the body, not the featured image)
Thanks – Stuart

Cheers Chris – am getting there slowly but surely! Fully refreshing the page does seem to be essential (I’d already realised that needing to add a space or whatever to a setting and resaving was another oddity).
I have got the subtitle working much to my surprise, by using the ‘Secondary Title’ plugin. Just trying to suss out whether I should be checking ‘Include featured image’ on GN Publisher as I think Google is getting confused at the reloads (I edited/resaved all the existing posts). Brand new post has the duplicate image. I think I need to generate a bunch of new posts just to test this out! Thanks – S
Very interesting… I installed a plugin, Featured Image From URL, but not onto Jockrock.org but my other site, isthismusic.com. (Jockrock doesn’t need it, fortunately). I do take a feed from that onto the front page so it could be that some data crosses over and you can see it?
I’m getting double images so have unchecked the box, the Refresh on GN is really slow so hopefully that will sort it – I’ll check tomorrow, it’s midnight now. But I suspect that Google won’t authorise it in its current state, I need to sort out new graphics (now I can actually preview I can see these don’t work well) plus there seems to be a ‘Subtitle’ field I could do with filling somehow, otherwise I’ll need to completely adjust how I write my headlines. I may be best withdrawing the site from the process for now but I’ll leave it for now so I can get you any more info you need for the plugin.
