I am sorry that I am not explaining this very well. Let me try explaining with some more details. I have tried 3 separate approaches and I get the same result each time.
1. First, I used the default /web-stories setting. I cleared the cache and resaved the permalinks. When I view the page, I see the content from my blog on /web-stories (it is not redirecting). There are no web stories displaying, it is showing blog posts in the same format and layout as my current blog archive page. the page title shows “Stories Archive”, but there are no stories present. I have tried it both when I am logged in the backend, and not logged in. I also tried it in an incognito window. Same result.
2. Second, I created a page called /web-stories and used the default setting. I tried in the oxygen template to only show the web-story post type for this page. I cleared the cache and resaved the permalinks. When I view the page, I see the content from my blog, no web stories.
3. Lastly, I created a new page /all-stories and inserted the shortcode. I assigned in the settings that /all-stories was my archive page. I cleared the cache and resaved the permalinks. When I view the page, I see the content from my blog. In the page editor, it shows that the page is the Archive Page for Web Stories, but no web stories display, only blog posts. Same result.

Any other ideas? I appreciate your help with this.

Yes, I understand that /web-stories is the archive page. I would like the /web-stories page to contain the carousel with all of our stories. The first step I did was to go to /web-stories (before I created a separate page) and the page contained our blog articles (not web stories).

Then I thought, “maybe I need to create a separate page called /web-stories so that I could limit what is displayed there to only web stories and insert the carousel”. Which is why I tried creating a separate page and limiting by post type. So that didn’t work either.

How can I get the /web-stories page to show the carousel with only web stories and not blog articles?

I have it set to “default”. /web-stories. This is the page url that I created the page for.

Ah! I cleared the website cache and it appears to be working normally now.
