  • I am having the same problem. I was running NextScripts fine for about a year. Then I deactivated because I was trouble shooting another problem unrelated to NextScripts. When I attempted to reactivate I got this –

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

I submitted a ticket to NextScripts but didn’t get a response (ticket #750427) Then I saw a couple of new releases and thought that explained why I hadn’t heard from NextScripts. I updated my version hoping the problem would be gone but no.

Then I deleted the plugin and reloaded it. Still same problem.

I am also using a bunch of plugins. Many of the same plugins used by eminds.

eamondaly — it worked like a charm!!

Thank you for being so generous with your time.

I want to use eamondaly’s remedy but I don’t know what the heck I’m doing and am afraid to mess with the site which is live.

Before I try to use the solution, please tell me if it sounds like I understand the instructions. By the way, I am assuming cp means cpanel.

    1) Using Filezilla ftp I found dfcg-admin-metaboxes.php

    2) I make a copy of dfcg-admin-metaboxes.php and name it dfcg-admin-metaboxes.php.original

    3) Using Notepad, I take the code eamondaly created and save it to a file that I save as nonce.patch

Now this is where I’m lost (could be I was lost at step 3). Where do I place the nonce.patch file. Does it go here /wp-content/plugins/dynamic-content-gallery-plugin/includes

    4) then using FTP I copy dfcg-admin-metaboxes.php to my computer

    5) using Notepad I open dfcg-admin-metaboxes.php and type patch < nonce.patch I’m guessing that I’d type that at the bottom of the page

    6) then while the file is still open and still using Notepad I look for this line

    if ( !wp_verify_nonce( isset($_POST['dfcg_metabox_noncename']), DFCG_FILE_HOOK )) {

    and change it to read

    if ( !isset($_POST['dfcg_metabox_noncename']) || !wp_verify_nonce( $_POST['dfcg_metabox_noncename'], DFCG_FILE_HOOK )) {

    7) I save dfcg-admin-metaboxes.php

    8) I upload dfcg-admin-metaboxes.php to wp-content/plugins/dynamic-content-gallery-plugin/includes

Thanks so much for providing this support

thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly — I will reactivate the plugin

Thanks so much. Here is my url

by the way, the originator of this thread TnyBits.com has found a remedy — or at least it looks like it because I went to his/her site and tested the Pinterest button. It works fine. I wanted to contact this person but there isn’t a contact button on the site and I don’t think I can contact them through this site. Maybe the WPyogi or Andrew Nevins can contact this person to find out how they discovered a solution.

Thank you — I will follow your recommendations but I have to wait until the site is getting less traffic. I work on it in the wee hours of the morning.

    thank you WPyogi —

As soon as I realized the Pinterest button wasn’t working, I contacted Shareholic tech support (before contacting anyone else). They were the ones who identified the metatag in my header.

    <meta name=”pinterest” content=”nopin”/></head>

Here are the things I’ve already done:

    1) Deactivated all plugins (with the exception of the Pinterest button plugin)
    2) Reverted to the default WP Theme Twenty Eleven
    3) Validated my site for Pinterest
    4) Initiated tickets with my host, Pinterest, the theme developer company, and others.

Speaking of the no pin meta tag, StudioPress tech support said:

That is the rendered HTML source of the page after all the code runs. It does not say what plugin or action has added the code.

Unless someone manually added it to the theme files, I really have no idea where it is. We do not add that code to the theme files.

So I’m still stuck at square one. I want to permit pinning but somehow there is a line of code that is preventing that from happening and I have no idea how to remove it.

I contacted the support team at StudioPress (the developers of Genesis). They maintain that their themes are not the source of the problem. They say the problem must be coming from a plugin. This is not a Genesis issue.

I have the same problem. I’m using Genesis with a child theme. The support at Genesis tell me the tag was added when I installed a plugin. The also said that because the plugin added the meta tag, the only way to remove it is to deactivate the plugin. I deactivated all of my plugins and no luck. I’m still looking for a solution.

I have the same issue. I’m searching this forum for other inquiries for this issue. If anyone has an answer please reply.

@mophilly THANK YOU. I am absolutely willing to do the reading if the investment of time will benefit me. Thanks again.

I posted this same plea for help on the Google Webmasters Forum. Here is the only response I’ve gotten in 24 hrs (from someone who is identified as “Level 9” —

    Did you reconstruct the sitemap?

Frankly, these fake evergreen content tricks (removing dates from URLs) are not “optimal” in my opinion. They are deceptive and diminish the quality of the content on your site.

Why do you not want dates in your URLs? They are extremely relevant to when the content was published.

WordPress will, by default, redirect old URLs to new URLs when you change the URL structure. You don’t need any SEO plugins to accomplish that. It sounds to me like you’ve screwed things up enough that you just need to settle on a structure and leave it alone for a couple of months.

For anyone reading this wanting to know how I resolved the problem, I had to go back and restore the backup. Now I’m running the older version of WordPress and looking for a new theme

yes, I tried that. Still not able to use any of my categories or author pages
