Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Issues With WordPress and Site AddressAs I noted in my post, I’ve reviewed Moving WordPress (numerous times actually), and have attempted the fixes listed but without any luck. I’m considering taking a step back by moving WordPress again to a directory titled ‘wordpress,’ and then moving it back into the desired location (making sure to change the addresses in General Settings beforehand this time). I don’t know if that will do anything though…
I’ll look into the Moving WordPress codex again, and hopefully something will work right this time around.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Switching HostsI followed these steps:
If You Don’t Care If Your Old Blog Works
1. Download a copy of the main wordpress files from your OLD blog to your hard drive and edit wp-config.php to suit the new server.
2. Go back to your OLD blog and go to Administration > Settings > General and change the url (both of them) to that of your new site.
3. Again, download your database (but keep the old one just in case), upload this new database and the copy of the wordpress core files with the edited wp-config.php to your new server. Thats itI didn’t change the url because I’m keeping the domain (transferring it to the new host). Both the database and files have been uploaded and I’ve reconfigured wp-conig.php.
I wanted to test the wordpress on the host before I transferred the domain, using a temporary one. I suspect I’m getting the error on the homepage because my temporary ID can’t load anything. However, the widgets do appear on the side, just not the posts.
Either I just need to transfer my domain and then test the site, or something went wrong when I reuploaded files.
Any ideas?
