  • man ive been looking for HOURS!!!! lol…so to see this dev say its not poss at the moment is a bit of a let down in an otherwise great form.

you add this and itll be 100%

i just think aside from MAYBE the layout, you need more work in the colors department. feels too dry. too serious

you have to play with the colors a bit to make it feel more inviting.

also, the footer needs work. its like it was left unfinished.

also, you need a home button.

yeah great idea but, the “look” needs work, the first thing i “felt” when i went in was…this is far from happy lol.

your color palette needs a change. i looked around and…well
    check this out,

    https://www.rachaelray.com/

see the color palette there, how it makes you feel comfortable and inviting.

your close, just need a few tweaks.
    good job.

Hello there. If you know nothing about web and design then good try.

i know absolutely NOTHING about golf but, the look and feel of the site say absolutely nothing about golf.

when i think golf, i see this.

    [non-wordpress links moderated]

the first 2 should be easy(relatively) with the appropiate skin/theme.

If you notice, with the links i showed, those sites are inviting and with a quick glance, tell you everything you need to know, from the colors (green-ish) to the pictures etc…

no disrespect meant but when i look at yours for some odd reason, i think TRON or 80s wireframe games.

first impressions and all that. but its a good try though. im sure youll make it happen.

    just my .02

    hope the critisism helps you.

    peace

    good luck

    Hi there.

    1. The sites not bad..just a bit bland…a bit too much white so feels a bit stale but not bad.

    2. As far as the menus, i can understand why you did what you did but, the smaller menu is TOO small. and on rollover, the dropdown menus are almost unreadable theyre so small. also, i think the menu area is too clutered. you should categorize the menu items better and put sub content under the appropiate item. for example, “video search” and “submit a video” dont really need to be there, especially video search since its already also on the right top sidebar area.

also, the “follow us” area, you should pick one, you have a sidebar left AND right with almost the same thing…the design could be cleaner by omitting one of them and consolidating them both into one.

Also, the footer, would be better if youd flush it to the bottom, as it stands, theres a big space/gap there and looks like…..unfinished.

Also, the “LOG IN ” area is…almost gets lost with the ads you have up there, you need a better place to put it.

its always hard to style so much content but. check out these 2 sites.
if you take inspiration from these, your design and content (and henceforth your user base) will prolly grow

    https://www.myspace.com/
    https://www.mtvhive.com/#mtvmusic
    https://www.vevo.com/

    just my observations.

    good luck

hello there. Well, for it being your first site. not bad lol.

a few suggestions though, do some research on sites that try to accomplish similar things and look at how they handle the design, then try to find a template that mimics that style and youll be much happier.

next, the images could be a little clearer. as they are, theyre a bit hard to read since the image quality isnt that high.

also, the menu, atleast the way you have it, would prolly be better at the top since as mindles drones, humans are used to seeing it at the top, not in the middle of the page.

good luck and keep hustlin <thumbs up>

hello there. i had to retry because at first, only one image (of a camera or something) would load. after reloading a few times, the site did come up but took longer than it shouldve.

i checked and you have javascript error which MAY*** be the cause.
sometimes if the code doesnt go through good, itll mess up the page load.

if your not sure on whats causing it, look at your index or whereever the javascript tags are, and put it at the bottom of the page ontop of the closing body tag…it will atleast let the page load before trying to run the javascript.

if you want to FIX it, the error is on line 6 if i remember correctly.

    good luck

i agree with above. honestly as SOON as i saw the link for “how to kiss” i was like OOOO i wanna see this…when i got there i was like WTF…..lol

your site has MUCH more potential than what its currently putting out =)

id say do your homework and find a nice template. for your content, there are MANY out there.

    good luck

not bad i suppose. the one thing id say is, the social bar on the bottom mid left, looks cheap and cheapens the site.

other than that, the tree in the header looks like it wasnt sized correctly. so it looks a bit distorted.

    other than that its cool.

nice. id just say, the logo at the top, push it a bit more towards the left…its off. and the footer where the smaller menu is, push it more towards the right, its also off lol.

aside from that, and this is just my opinion, the social bar at the side cheapens the feel of the site…maybe style iit different or something…put it elsewhere…

    just my .02

    but nice. looks good

yeah you see, ipublish articles website, is exactly what i meant with the width of the site. if he had fluid widths, itd look the same as yours with too muchnegative space.

its not bad at all just need to tweak a lil bit.

Well those links are to give you an idea of regular design for those types of sites but, like anything else, theres hundreds of them lol.

As far as work, the site in my belief, has to match the quailty of your work genre. Me personally, when im looking for some kind of service, whatever it may be, if the site looks fake, or like crap i IMMEDIATELY think theyre out to get me and close the window asap lol.

thats just me. as far as not getting a single call. design may have something to do with that but, like i said, you need to work with someone to build accompanying items to go along with the site. like i said the web is a huge place and there are many others like you.

you need to spend a little to get the biz cards and pamphlets and as you drive by, spread em out, pay some kid to put em on mailboxes etc…

once they see the work on the card/pamphlet, they will prolly look you up on the site, or call you right up but you need to be in their face and a website will not automatically do that for you. a website in your line of work is more an accompanying tool. you still need to inform the masses that its there. hence facebook, local neighborhood sites/community sites if they have them….etc…

    just giving you an idea.

hello again, as far as “is it bad” its not a matter of bad, its a matter of, “what will the customer think when they see my site”.

You want/need is a proffesional appearance. ESPECIALLY when your starting your own business, you want to make it LOOK like you have/know more than you do lol…just being real.

if your passing around flyers and business cards, and a customer DOES reach your site, then as it is now, “proffesional” is not the first thing it gives off. if you only want it as a blog of sorts then YES..its fine(for now), but if you want to use it as a tool to convince you next prospective customer about saying yes to you, then no.

As far as “seo pack” etc, thats way beyond the scope of what you need, that comes WAY later.

what you need first and foremost, is to work on the LOOK and feel of it. for example, open up your site, then in seperate tabs on your browser, open these links (i just googled random sites)

    https://www.callegariandassociates.com/index.html
    https://www.concretenetwork.com/
    https://euthenicslinks.com/index.php
    https://www.bbis.info/

and compare. you get the idea.

As far as getting your “name” out there. the Web is a BIG place and although you can do certain things to spread the word, one of the things your going to have to consider is (business cards and pamphlets etc) to spread around when on the street, on the job etc…

As far as whats “affordable” i dont even wanna get into that lol. like anything else in life, sometimes you feel tight and dont want to spend any $$$ so you go for the cheap option and ends up costing you in the long run.

look around for someone who gives you a fair price, and BEFORE you do ANYTHING, look around at peoples portfolios etc which gives you a good idea of what theyre capable of.

If any other questions dont hesitate to ask. im not always on here on WP but email me if anything ( [email address removed] )

    good luck.

Yep you are correct. I think ive been on this a lil too hard lately trying to learn it….i coulda SWORE i…

thanks for your help, i found it.

Id hazzard a guess that, since this is a bar, theres not going to be TOO much content on the front page, so if your basing your design on the “hospitality theme” or whatever it is,

id say, leave the width/height of the middle content/movie/gallery area as is.

its hard to enjoy the pictures on the new view area you have. At the very least make it a bit higher so us as viewers can enjoy it more.

Also on a side note, in the middle gallery area, theres like a weird clipping effect going on.
