Thanks. I’ve been experimenting with the Block Visibility plugin, which looks promising.
Thanks, but that plugin doesn’t seem to work with block themes. Do you know anything similar that does?

In reply to: [Nav Menu Roles] Does this plugin works with the Block Menus? Can confirm. Tried switching, created a menu with access settings on it that worked fine, then switched back to Twenty Twenty-Three and the only option for classic menus is to import them, which seems to break the access settings. Every menu item on the imported menu showed up for anonymous users.

In reply to: [Nav Menu Roles] Does this plugin works with the Block Menus? It doesn’t look like it does. I’m exploring WordPress as a replacement to nearing-EoL Drupal 7 for our membership site, partly because of the power of full-site editing. I really need to prevent people seeing menu items not appropriate to their role. This plugin sounded perfect, but neither the site editor nor the dashboard appear to have any way to access it’s features.

In reply to: Internal Server Error following upgradeMy web host tells me this was caused by WordPress setting all the files to not have execute permission. Is this a known issue that I should have found somewhere?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Internal Server Error following upgradeI’ve discovered that the wp-login page doesn’t seem to work either, making it impossible for me to logout of the wp-admin area (and presumably impossible to log back in should I clear my cookies).
I’ve also realised I didn’t take sufficient care when uploading the replacement wp-content folder. I read the instructions about themes, and assumed that as I’d never changed the default theme I was OK to just replace the folder, meaning that I’ve lost all the images I’d uploaded and am seeing a lot of broken links in my media library.
Could either of these things point to a diagnosis of the problem? Forgot to mention before that the site’s at https://www.sphericalbowl.co.uk

In reply to: installing wordpress 500 – Internal server error.Sorry, delayed response. I got in touch with my web host, who told me that I’d some how set public write permissions across my whole site, and as result the server had taken away my PHP rights. I’m a little confused about how the installer ran, but they’ve fixed the permissions for me and everything seems fine now. Don’t know about the OP.

In reply to: installing wordpress 500 – Internal server error.Actually, just re-read your message, and it’s not quite the same problem that I’m getting. I get a “Success!” screen with a log in button at the bottom after installing, but then get the Internal Server Error when I try to log in.

In reply to: installing wordpress 500 – Internal server error.I’m getting the same problem. I’ve just noticed that the sidebar of my phpMyAdmin contains this under where it says “Web Server”:
- Apache/1.3.37 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.8.28 OpenSSL/0.9.6l PHP/4.1.2 PHP/3.0.17 mod_perl/1.21 mod_fastcgi/2.4.2
- MySQL client version: 5.0.51a
I’m a little confused by this apparently giving two version numbers for PHP but, as neither of them are as high as the stated requirement of 4.3, I’m guessing that could be the problem?
I’m just installing WordPress for the first time, as an exile forced out by Blogger abandoning FTP support, so I’m a complete noob to all this. Any help would be much appreciated.
