Further details… so, after wasting a bunch of time downloading and installing mysql programs that didn’t work properly, I was able to login into the phpmyadmin program through the host’s website, but there was no database set up for this particular domain, and establishing a connection with the database is not an option.

If I transferred the domain to a new host, would the posts be there, or are they lost competely since they were not backed up to a database?

I’ve been working on this since you posted it, and I’m thinking it’s probably over my head, as I don’t seem to be getting anywhere with it. Before I spend any more time on it, can you tell me if this solution presumes that my WP site has been previously backed up to an SQL database? Or whether that is an automatic thing? Or whether it’s something I can do when the site is no longer working? (Domain is still active, but the host won’t let me access it).
