In reply to: [Aesop Story Engine] Warning@mythusmage – Honestly, I can’t figure out what you are talking about. I have tested Aesop on a range of themes from self developed, to free, to the “OEM” WordPress themes and the plugin is very functional without spending a dime.

In reply to: Garland theme…. available?“I’d encourage you guys to click on your own tags above (e.g. garland)”
I already did that research. Those threads are more than a month old and do not answer my question. Thats why I started a new one. Just FYI.
Looks like a good time to move to Drupal actually. If the real features (like new themes and so on) are going to be used to lock users into wordpress.com then the party here is definitely over.

In reply to: Export WP -> WPJust an update. A few hours hacking and I have a WP -> XML tool running. It puts out the essential post data, categories and authors. I haven’t done comments yet.
Obviously the import / merge is where the magic happens, but so far this is working OK.

In reply to: Export WP -> WPOk, I have to ask…
Has anyone ever done this at all? Merge 2 WP blogs? Even with the now broken plugins?

In reply to: Export WP -> WPI spent some time looking into the problem, and if push comes to shove I will write a tool to do it but frankly I am not really going to spend the time to try and make it “universal”. It will just be some PHP that needs to be able to connect to both the old and the new DB’s and then it will handle the merge issues.
Of course, depending on when 1.6 is due I might just wait till it shows up, upgrade both installations and see if that is useful.
Still, the lack of this basic feature is simply astonishing. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate all the work the core team has done… but it still baffles me ??

In reply to: Memory-limited export to RSS feedThat, sadly, appears to be the case. I am going to have to write this *sigh*.

Any answers here?

In reply to: Export WP -> WPThats useless for this purpose. There is post ID # collision, category merging to deal with and so on. A whole host of issues that would need to be considered. A simple SQL based merge process is doomed to fail.

In reply to: Movable Type import – anyone working on one that works?Yes. And they don’t help ??
The import-mt.php script breaks horribly under php 5.x it seems and the matter of keeping the post ID’s is somehting you have to hack on… now that I woudln;t mind if the first issue didn;t make workign on the script impossible ??

In reply to: URL re-write rules….Actually, IIS CAN use re-write rules… its just an add on. Fortunately there are several out there and available. I have one of those.
So I can indeed use mod-rewrite style re-write rules… I jsut need to see an example of them so I can reproduct it int he proper format ??
