  • I had exactly the same panic (and paging endlessly round the dashboard looking for the thing) – thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion. I have uncommented various pieces of the code (I’d commented out meta, for instance) but it hasn’t solved my problem (www.free-from.com/blog).

I used to have the permalinks set to month/day/postname, and it worked fine. Now, it no longer works.

If I reset the permalink structure to the default, I can navigate to my archives, and between posts, with no problem. If I reset the permalink to month/day/postname, using the radio buttons on the permalinks page of the control panel, then I can no longer navigate, and all links simply refresh the home page.

I’ve read through dozens of posts and attempted various solutions that have worked for others, and am at a loss to know how to proceed.

I don’t want the default option, nor the index.php option if I can avoid it. What has changed? I have deactivated all the plugins I was using, and don’t know what else to try.

Does anybody have any ideas? Please?

Now I’ve upgraded WP, I’m having this problem – it was fine before (www.free-from.com/blog). If I click on an archive link or on a category link, I just get the home page presented again.

I did have permalinks enabled before, though I notice that most recent posts have the default names – so I guess it wasn’t working.

I have tried changing the permissions on .htaccess and resetting the permalinks, but without any joy – same problem. I don’t understand the .htaccess file, but it says: RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L] Is this right?

Any ideas about what might have gone wrong? I’m stumped. Another blog I’ve just started seems to be working fine, and I haven’t done anything differently I don’t think.

Thanks sdeasy – I have this problem too (I hope I can say “had” this problem). Now I just have to wait until tomorrow morning to see if my scheduled backups arrive …
