This instruction doesn’t work for me. I selected the page to link to
https://www.mysite.org/content/this-is-the-page

Then added #anchorname to the end of it
https://www.mysite.org/content/this-is-the-page#anchorname

When I click the link, a forward slash is added to the URL by my browser (no matter the browser)
https://www.mysite.org/menu/this-is-the-page/#anchorname

So the link fails.

There was no trouble, just needed some clarification.

I always try to use closing tags, but sometimes forget.

Since I, like many other WordPress users, don’t know the first thing about CSS, using tables is an easy way for me to create columns and control their content. I know there are column plugins, but they seem easy to disrupt – especially when more than one person has access to edit a site – so tables work for me.

Storyman asked for help on a specific issue. I’m having the same problem. I’m sharing what I just learned, which seems to concur with his experience. I think I am on topic with his post.

Storyman’s post is 4 months old, but the post is still open, is still unresolved, and is related to my problem, so I saw no need to create a new post – better to compile comments under one post in case someone does come in with a solution from which we can both benefit.

I just chatted with BlueHost about this. Here’s the pertinent part of my chat:

First of all, there’s no place in the Menu to change the URL. So I deleted from the menu the one page I want to secure (a member login page); I did not delete the page from Pages. Next, I added a Custom Link in the Menu, using BlueHost’s https:// format. However, I got a 404 error, just as you did.

Something about WordPress isn’t allowing the free SSL to work properly – OR – BlueHost doesn’t know how to explain the WordPress process for the free SSL.

I did read somewhere in my hunt to find a resolution to this that the https:// URL will only direct to a file in the root directory (public_html) and not to a subdirectory (sub domain). But that’s neither here nor there if it doesn’t work on the domain.

Thanks. I will do that. This code is resulting in a “dangerous” rating for my website from Google. The code had been placed in header.php file.

Similar thing here. I discovered Google finds my site malicious, Firefox calls it an “attack site”, and there is malware somewhere. I have Sucuri Security plugin – did a scan from the dashboard – no malware found.

However, if I go to Sucuri’s SiteCheck (https://sitecheck.sucuri.net//) and put in my site I get:

Status: Infected With Malware. Immediate Action is Required.
Web Trust: Blacklisted (10 Blacklists Checked): Indicates that a major security company (such as Google, McAfee, Norton, etc) is blocking access to your website for security reasons. Please see our recommendation below to fix this issue and restore your traffic.

What is up with that?

Needless to say, I’ve open a ticket with the Sucuri support desk.
