  • @kcellis I’m guessing you don’t have any dimensions or weights on each product then?

Can you tell me which version of USPS you are using? I know you stated latest but put a version number if you can. I’m using a beta version which I don’t think was released yet and everything is working. I’m definitely using the Recommended and I have our box sizes and weights for each box added. Once a box fills past 15.99999 ounces only Priority will show no matter what. However our price points are such that at $50+ users get free shipping in general.

Anyway, let’s see if we can get you squared away.

Thanks Ivole. I’ll check it out!

Jeff, it’s not so much a WooCommerce Services issue. The issue is that USPS’s First Class Shipping does not show for most people. This is due to an API issue from USPS into Woo. Woo is aware of the issue as I’ve explained but there has not yet been a patch since the issue lies with USPS. So I’ve explained how to fix that issue whether you are using your plugin or not using your plugin. It wouldn’t matter.

For the record you can ship up to 15.9999 ounces as I’ve stated before. I don’t know where you got 13oz from. Items above 15.9999 need to go Priority.

Again, anyone experiencing this issue follow my instructions and you’ll be all set.

@pakellner exactly. Great job. That’s the rate we use, but it’s not coming thru anymore. I was able to see all the rates (only two) come thru once I enabled debug mode. Chose one and that was that.

I don’t know what you sell but if a user can add multiple items be careful it doesn’t charge them $13 or more for two items. That’s why I noted the parcel package method part. You can ship up to 15.9999 ounces for under $4 commercial and charge the customer $5.98 or $6 by adding additional fee. But sometimes that packing method will double it to $11 or $13. So add additional items to the cart to make sure you’re not overcharging your customers.

Hey everybody. USPS’ API isn’t working correctly. So for a quick fix please enable DEBBUG to see which methods you are receiving. I can tell you right now we’re only seeing two. We’re using First-Class Mail? Large Envelope (it’s the only API feed coming thru) with an extra $3 to handle S/H. That calculation isn’t coming out right but it’s covering costs better than nothing showing and the $3 bucks total that was showing.

You may have to play around with the Parcel Packing Method to but test and see how it goes. Then in the input field simply put FIRST CLASS so that the user doesn’t see First-Class Mail? Large Envelope

    Hope this helps.

I’m just using bots as an example. I can write a script to tell a bot to trigger a 3star or 5star though, I can’t bypass a mandatory field that requires text, although I can write a bot to jumble text. However, the great thing is that we have verified owners only which keeps it as legitimate as possible.

    Thanks

I’m not sure if you shop on Amazon, but they require not only a comment but a headline. This is to ensure verified customers, not bots, are literally writing something. Since bots haven’t learned how to write yet.

I think honestly, any brand would want comments to be required if they cared enough about their business.

I mean all First Class rates all together. If you put your shipping options on DEBUG you’ll see which ones are coming thru the API and which ones aren’t. I only get two. Postcards and Large Envelopes. I’m using Large Envelopes and adding additional costs to that field to cover my expenses. However that calculation isn’t matching one bit but at least it’s better than $3.00.

I also switched my Parcel Packing Method from Weight to Default to get that. Otherwise nothing worked.

Thanks man. It has. One thing I noticed that just happened is folks simply applying stars and not commenting. I don’t know what’s standard but shouldn’t we make the comment box or give an option to make it required? I mean people need to say something. Otherwise it looks so lame. Just a thought.

Never mind. I found it in your plugin now. Thanks.

Hey Ivole, I saw two or three updates in the last week and one thing that has changed that I can’t find to stop is the approving of all comments. They’re automatically getting pushed to the front-end now. I’m not sure that’s a good thing. I have settings to put all comments on hold until approved.

Am I wrong that it worked prior to updates?

    Thanks

Hey gang, I’m not sure if anyone else has heard this but there is a problem with USPS sending First Class rates. I just spoke to Woo and they’re working on a patch. Seems USPS created new First Class rates and that’s why they’re not showing. So we’re waiting for a patch.

The Service plugin is stored on Automattic’s servers rather than on your own. So it puts less of a load on your own servers. Making your site load faster. So it’s keen in that sense. However, I’ve never used it but have read its documentation.

@dvlwearsparsley, you’re in the right place. I may be in the wrong place but it’s similar across the board. Meaning that both SERVICES and USPS use the same API to call for rates. However, you may not see the same screen as someone not using SERVICES. We’re all experiencing a loss of First Class not showing and not being able to add additional fees for the likes of labor, boxes, fill, etc.

We’re hoping Woo can figure this out but having worked with them for years we have a better chance of winning the lottery beforehand.

@kcellis, I also put a ticket in and they were unable to replicate while we both worked on it. I disabled all shipping plugins, ie Ship Easy and everything else and only enabled USPS and Woocommerce and it still didn’t change. I even went to use a default WP theme. No change. So I’m not sure what’s going on there.
