Thank you, esmi. I knew not to use Word for WordPress but I can’t seem to find how to highlight and/or change Font colors and do some other relatively simple graphics in Notepad so I imagined that it would need another program. Don’t know which one to use.

Also, I just activated the Landing Sites Plugin and do not see anywhere where we can use settings to tie in my posts to my Landing Page (as is its purpose). Can you help? Thanks again.

    jleuze (and everyone else):

OK, disregard the two earlier posts. Two hours later I managed to add a link to an mp3 file to my “About Us” page (url for site is https://www.lovepalmspringshomes.com….see about us page), but I really wanted the music just to start when going to the page. In any case, if we must have a clickable link, I do not want to be navigated away from the page when the link is clicked as is the case now. Solutions, please. Thanks.

PS: I also added a file called love2.mp3 (the audio file I am trying to include) to the test.mp3 server file…??

jleuze: I downloaded the audio player you recommended and now don’t know how to use it. I have an mp3 file. How do I include it in my page or posts? Do need to change any of the settings to add the file (like: \audio) or do I just paste the link into the post? Thx.

So, I don’t have Google XML Sitemaps or Super Cache installed and I still have he spinning arrow. Now what? (About ready to replace CF7.)

Thank you. I’ll check it out. Any suggestions as to what I can do to get Contact Form 7 working? The spinning arrow just keeps spinning whe I try to send a test message and I don’t want to deactivate or delete the other plug-ins. Any other Contact Form suggestions if this can’t work with my Plug-ins?

Thanks so much for your patience, Samboll! Can you recommend some of the forms to check into. I simply wanted an easy way to be contacted for more info while providing me with an email address or return contact info for inquiring prospects. I am beginning to understand that there’s more to consider. Anything effective and free? LOL! Thank you again for sticking with me as I learn.

    Self-hosted (GoDaddy).

Y’know,I realize that this makes sense to you, but I am still not getting the answer I am looking for. I do appreciate your trying. Please keep in mind that I am a beginner and that I am seeking an answer to a basic question. This has now become an academic exercise intended to also help others who are also just starting with WP.

Where do I find this theme sidebar.php and how would I add the <?php wp_list_bookmarks(); ?> code to it? Your caveat that it depends where you want it just further confuses me, especially since I was given earlier advice without this caveat.

On another question, do you know how I’d fix the Contact Form 7 plugin to send messages? Other advice to deactivate other plug-ins makes no sense since I need them. Is there another easy fix?

Thanks. If it’s not too much trouble, exactly where would that code go (where do I go to find the section in which to insert that code)?

    Samboll:

Thanks, but this doesn’t address my question. As I mentioned, I apparently did finally just add the links widget (what you’re suggesting) and was asking why I was advised elsewhere to add the code <?php wp_list_bookmarks(); ?> to my theme’s sidebar.php. What’s the difference? And where and how do I add that type of code (where in the admin or do I use FTP)?

PS: Just noticed all my typos…please excuse.

So in trying to add links to my sidebar, I endeavored to follow the advice to add the code: <?php wp_list_bookmarks(); ?> to my theme’s sidebar.php. Problem is that I found that I have no idea how to do this. Didn’t see a way to upload a random piece of code (did upload All in One SEO pretty easily….and thanks for that suggestion) with Filezilla and didn’t see anywhere else to add it. Please walk me through the process.

Meanwhile, I went to Widgets in my WP Dashboard and clicked on Add Blogroll to the right sidebar and it worked!! Hence, I am now also confused as to what the code (above) was meant to do differently…?

    Thank you.

Thank you, stvwlf. I’ll try it. I assume running widgets in WP will not interfere with the link code (i.e., only using widgets in the theme will affect it).

kmessinger: Yes, I had already planned to get WP For Dummies. No offense taken. Believe it or not, I am actually normally pretty good at this stuff but am finding WP not all that intuitive. Have spent a lot of time trying to work through it myself when I began to reach out in an effort to get it done so I can spend my time actually blogging instead of setting it up!
