In reply to: Customize theme – screen blinkingNothing? ??
Looks like I have found one to my taste already ??
I hope to get into plugin writing at some time soon, but right now I want to get something running ASAP.
Thanks again for your help.
Thanks Jeremy
I don’t have much experience of hacking around with WordPress, but I think I see what you are saying. I should use the plugin in both my Twenty Ten child theme and the Mobile Theme, and ditch the page template, right?
I see there are some 3rd part plugins that should do the trick, and I think I’ll try one of those. What I currently have in Twenty Ten child theme is not that great – I just put something together quickly, as I recently moved from K2 where I got an archive page automagically.
Cheers
Stev

In reply to: [K2] Formatting lost when clicking "Older" after a searchA bit more investigation shows that I can only see the problem on IE on my main home machine. So I will try re-installing IE, and but I’ll plan to change theme anyway.

In reply to: [K2] Formatting lost when clicking "Older" after a searchSadly, none of those suggestions help – neither for my blog nor google stuff. Besides, I am more concerned about others not seeing my blog right rather than myself.

In reply to: [K2] Formatting lost when clicking "Older" after a searchThanks for looking at this.
Just checked with Chrome, and that is fine for me too. Never thought to check another browser – thought it must me a server-side thing.
The problem is still there with MSIE 10.0.9200.16618, even after clearing the cache. This latest version doesn’t work well with gmail and google calendar either. Compatibility mode doesn’t help.
I suppose we need to wait for MS to sort it out (and hope they don’t make things worse). In the meantime, if any one can suggest something I could do to tweak either WordPress or K2, I’d be grateful
The IE problem has “gone away”. In the same way as winenous.com I suspect. Sorry for sloppy bug reporting.
But the Chrome problem was real, and has been fixed by your suggested procedure.
Thank you very much for your help.
Sorry Jeremy – can’t get my own blog URL right!
It is https://www.winenous.co.uk.
I see that this issue has been marked “resolved”. Does that mean a fix should be available?
I have literally just downloaded a new version (2.1.1) and I see the problem. Indeed, I only just noticed it after the last download.
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Error 500 on running install.phpI have solved my problem. I replaced localhost by 127.0.0.1 in my wp-config. Not sure why – localhost works in most other contexts. But interestingly it also failed at the point of DB creation when I tried installing Joomla – that’s what gave me the clue!
