I have solved the problem by deactivating Autoptmize and replacing it with a similar plugin.

All of a sudden, the error has disappeared and the testimonials are displaying correctly!

All I’ve done is cleared all the various caches.

If the problem reappears I’ll let you know what I see in the console.

I have done what you suggest and the plugin that’s causing the issue is Autoptimize.

Can you suggest how to proceed? Do I need to change any settings in Autoptimize?

What is the issue?

As mentioned above, the stylesheet may be missing, in which case simply reinstalling the theme should do the trick.

Also, there may be a conflict between the theme and a plugin.

Try activating the default WordPress theme (Twenty Twenty) and see what difference that makes.

If it look ok, you have a problem with a plugin.

Deacativate them one at a time until you find the culprit.

Yes, the caches have been cleared since I uninstalled Essential Grid.

I’ve cleared them all again, to make sure.

W3TC was installed only recently by my hosting company. I know it has mixed reviews but they recommended it.

The site was on Cloudflare but not any more. Could it still being cached there somehow?

What you say makes sense. The title of the site in general settings and customiser is, as you say, ‘Broughton School of Motoring’ and the description is ‘driving lessons and intensive driving courses in Scunthorpe and Brigg’.

I don’t really want to change them around.

I’ll see what the people at Yoast say.

Actually, it wasn’t the theme at all.

The problem was finally traced back to a plugin, Query Monitor.

It was changing the paths of two of your JS scripts.

When Query Monitor was removed, the site worked as expected.
