In reply to: [footnotes] exposeMask problem/conflictThank much, and you were correct. With the other plugins off and only Footnotes, it worked. So, I started turning on other plugins, and eventually found Ninja Forms Version 3.0.6 caused the problem with Footnotes enabled.
If I disable either Footnotes, or Ninja Forms, then it works, even with all other plugins we use turned on. I’m not quite sure how to proceed, other than making Ninja Forms devs aware of this thread (or giving them similar info).
I’d actually like the color back (maybe slightly more muted than the original). ?? IMO, all this mono-color ‘flat’ stuff, especially for icons in toolbars and such, will (hopefully) be a short-lived fashion. But whether it stays or goes, it’s bad UX/UI.
I’m having this same problem with v1.4. It’s working TOO well, as it’s redirecting me while logged in as an admin, as well as any non-admin or non-logged-in user.
This concept sounds great and is SO needed for WooCommerce development (in fact, I’m not sure why something like this isn’t part of core!).

In reply to: Comments that can't be deleted or managedJust a follow up. I deleted them directly from the database (from comments table), and so far, there have been no problems or repercussions.
Thanks again Mark. I guess my only suggestion at this point, would that it would be nice to have a manual way (aside from cron working) to fetch the feed items. (But, maybe this is too rare a case.)
Thanks Mark,
I contacted the hosting provider (WP Engine) and indeed, they have cron disabled for the staging server environment. If that’s what the problem is, then it should work fine in production. They have even enabled an alternate cron for it that checks every minute (vs WordPress’ default, when the site is visited).
So, I’m just going to set it up in production and hopefully it will all go OK. Thanks for your help! (You might want to make some notes about WP Engine staging, as well as the ‘Fetch items’ as I thought I was bypassing the cron by doing that.)
Hi Mark, I’ve opened a new ticket. Thanks.
Hi Mark,
This is the same problem I’m having. I even tried https://www.wpmayor.com/feed as shown in the setup video. All of my added feeds show the last several posts on the side under ‘Feed Preview,’ but all of them show 0 imported, even after I manually ‘Fetch Items.’

In reply to: [Responsive Mobile-Friendly Tooltip] How to make it work with WordPress 4?FYI: I’m running it on a WordPress 4.0 site, so while I’m not exactly sure what the problem is, it probably isn’t WP 4 directly.
I’ve had this happen for other kinds of Google authentication as well. My guess is they have caching on their own end that the systems that check this stuff can’t work around.
Just wanted to report back that after a day or two, it validated just fine (no change on my end). So, I’m pretty sure it’s just a typical Google-side issue.
@ ManxStef – I agree with much of what you said, but I guess since I disagree with the lack of color overall… I’m not as opposed to a few rebels if they are positioned correctly. It still helps me more quickly find what I’m looking for. The custom color option would be GREAT… then they can all follow the latest silly trends and make poor UI decisions and I can override them. ??

In reply to: [footnotes] Mouse-Over BoxHi, first thanks so much for this AWESOME plugin!
But, I started with v1.3.4 and am having some issues with the mouse-over display as well (though not sure quite the same issues).
Mine is mainly one of positioning. My blog has a right-side widget area, and when the footnote is near the right side of the body text, the box appears partially ‘under’ anything in that widget area, making it hard to read.
Maybe it could pop-up to the left instead of right when it is some percentage from the right edge?
Thanks!Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [footnotes] Handling over 100 footnotes too much?I’m guessing the problem might be that those are the markers for WordPress short codes. I’d stay away from [ and ]. That said, I’d think it would be possible to display them around the note number generated by the plugin on the final output page, but I’m guessing using them in the editor is going to be a problem. I’d stick with the (( and )) as that is standard ‘markup’ language for notes anyway… a good thing to get used to. (And, from experience in the past, if you’re importing Word docs, notes are going to be only one of your worries!)
+1 here too. It needs to AT LEAST be under the default WordPress tools, like under ‘Comments’ if not even lower.
However, I disagree with the comment about about color. I strongly-dislike these new ‘flat’ and ‘black and white’ trends in interface design, which undo years of UI advancement. Position, color, shape, etc. are all quite important to quickly recognizing things and using an interface.
And, thanks for the work-around Foxwander, but hopefully Yoast will change it in the source.
