I tend to use BlogDesk or Windows Live Writer to compose my posts, they have their own spell checker, there are some plug-ins available though how well they work I couldn’t say.

I recently set up my WordPress blog with afmu.com, they charge $3.95 pm paid up-front for 6 months at a time.
So far they seem to be fine and the cpanel seems fairly easy to use, which is just as well as I am not to technically minded. With the 10 GB Monthly Data Transfer and email accounts, plus the ability to host up to 3 domains I think they offer a pretty good deal for anyone setting up their WordPress site.
Only time will tell if they suffer from downtime or what their support is like, so far I have only contacted them once via email and their response was pretty quick and helpful.
