I have the same problem as bearqst: did an automatic upgrade, got

“An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.”

So I went ran the auto update again. Still getting

“An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.”

Then I went through the manual download/upload process, and pulled up the setup.php screen. Which told me that 3.0 had already been installed.

Back to the dashboard, where

“An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.”

is still hanging out. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Okay, I’ll give it a try. Thanks for getting back to me. One more question. If I can get it to work, can I then delete the individual files I’ve folded into the main css?

That might work — but I can’t even get to the admin panel to install the database manager plugin you suggest.

Anybody have another suggestion? Please?

I’m cross-eyed from scanning css files, which is my excuse for messing up the image link.

When I try to auto update, something I’ve done many times in the past, I now get this:

A plugin would be fantastic, if anybody has one to suggest.

I need to do this for tags, as well, I meant to say.

I am having the same problem. There used to be a plugin that would send an email so I could confirm or reject a new registration, but there doesn’t seem to be anything like that for 2.7.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Otto42. It’s mostly a symbolic thing, so I’m okay with the fuzzy nature of the counting.

I’m having the same problem, but 4x instead of 6x. Also, the “manage tags” page is empty, though the other two options (autotaggins, etc) are working.

It seems to me that I remember a plugin for mass editing posts, but i can’t locate it. If you know of any plugin like that at all, please speak up.

I’m having the same CPU spiking problems, getting shut down by my hosting provider. This started about three days ago. At that point I turned supercache on for the first time, but it hasn’t helped or hindered — the CPU spikes continue (as seen in the cpulog excerpt below — always having to do with index.php).

I’ve turned off most of my plugins and done everything else I could think of, read through all of the cpu discussions here on the forum.

It seems nobody has an answer. Any suggestions on what to try next?
