In reply to: every page duplicates itself in same screen. really.update: I turned off all plugins except Akismet, and I switched to the default template. For me at least the duplication problem is gone. Right now, it’s gone. I’m afraid to look again.
This kind of thing is really discouraging. So many hours went into customizing the theme and getting plugins to work, and now I can’t use any of it.

In reply to: every page duplicates itself in same screen. really.Well, at least I’m not alone. I’m still hoping some expert will be able to tell us what to do.

In reply to: Comments available in both ascending & descending? Also: is there a technical term for this? I’ve done a couple google searches, but it would probably be successful if I had the right terminology. Comment Flexibility? Comment Direction? User-oriented comment coding?
See. It’s hard.

In reply to: one format for all search results?whooami — thank you, but I did read that part of the codex. It stops just short of the information I need which is (just to clarify, as I obviously didn’t express myself clearly):
Anytime somebody clicks on a category or tag, or does a search, they get a results page.
Is there one template for all results pages, or does each type of search (category, tag, search) have its own? Once I figure that much out, I’ll know if I have to create/modify one template, or three. Or more.

In reply to: one format for all search results?Okay, so: is this a stupid question? A hard question? Doesn’t anybody have a clue?
Would somebody please tell me (1) it’s impossible; or (2) go away, you’re interrupting our parcheesi game; or (3) hhow to do this.

In reply to: url path and third party stuffOkay. But is there some way for me to fix this problem?
Jeremy — thank you, I didn’t realize that I was still accessing the old host’s copy. I did change the name servers, but maybe this slipped inbetween the cracks.
I’ve got a professonal looking at it now, and she’s got my backup files. So I’m crossing my fingers and thinking good thoughts.

In reply to: suppress sidebar & header outside blog?macbrink–
Thank you so much for that quick reply. I was using the php way of commenting out, but it didn’t work until I put it inside the sidebar statement as you showed in your example.
So the sidebar is gone from those pages… but one unforeseen result is that the main column is still only as wide as it was. I’m thinking maybe css would be the way to specific a different page width for these non-sidebar pages?
In html I would take the quick and dirty solution of putting some additional css at the top of the template to redine margins, but I haven’t seen that done with php.
Any thoughts? And thanks again, I do appreciate your help.
