For anyone else who can think of another solution, I’d really like to know if there is a system that can keep track of the series, so that authors can just choose which series they would like to add an entry to – like from drop down.

None of the articles there answered my question. They don’t address the issue of automatic permissions changes. What if I set newly reg’d members cannot write articles, but I want that to change automatically when it’s been one week?
