In reply to: uploading a bought wordpress themeThe issue here, for future questioners/posters, was confusion between self-hosting (hosting on godaddy) and buying a domain name through godaddy and redirecting it to WordPress.com.
The theme upload does not exist in WordPress.com’s dashboard, but there was no hope of using FTP with WP.com either. It’s not an uncommon point of confusion.

In reply to: "Remember Me" CheckboxMaybe but it could be a browser issue, clearing the cache or cookies.

In reply to: Backend menu missingI’m guessing, but it sounds like there’s a plugin that is hiding portions of the dashboard? Are you logged in as an administator? Do you have access to the host? It sounds like you don’t, right?

In reply to: uploading a bought wordpress themeIt’s not gisscorp. You’ll be an old pro in no time. Just log in to your WP installation and navigate to your themes area. Much safer and easier.

In reply to: uploading a bought wordpress themeGisscorp, we have established that you don’t need to do it via ftp, but if you want to, that would be through your cpanel. You’ll find file manager there and you can use it like you would Windows Explorer. Be careful, since you’re new. That’s a place where you can do some damage. In the WP dashboard, you really can’t.
It’s possible that you will see the domain name as a folder, but I’m guessing that you did a default installation and you will not see that. You will find the WP files under public_html.
I’d try the WP route first while you get your feet wet.

In reply to: Blue line under image in postSomething is overriding the style.css for img class and adding a 3px blue solid border to img class align. When I add !important to the border: 0px none line for img, the blue border disappears.

In reply to: How do I fix my website? You seem confused about some of the basic functionality of WP. In your Settings/Reading, it sounds like you want to choose A Static Page and then set your front page to the Home Page and the posts page to the Content page.
If the content you wrote on the Legal Notices page is still there when you go to Dashboard/Pages, it will show up again. If it’s not, you may find it on the revisions of that page. The other point of confusion you seem to have is around how the menu bar works. Dashboard/Appearance/Menus will let you change the order. The menu is just links to pages, posts, categories, links, etc. It’s helpful to realize that you have to set up pages, posts, etc, but they are not displayed until you have a menu or link to them somewhere.
This is basic stuff. You’ll figure it out with a little time. Good luck.

In reply to: Migrating content and users to new installationI don’t know for sure it will work, but it is safe to try WP Clone. I’ve had very good luck with it.

In reply to: uploading a bought wordpress themeI take this to be a question about use of a paid theme, rather than the ones you are used to from WP. So, assuming you already have WordPress installed, you can upload the theme in the dashboard. Assuming you downloaded the paid theme to your computer and it’s in a zip file, just go to Dashboard/Appearance/Themes/Add New/Upload Theme. Browse as usual.
If that’s not your question, sorry.

In reply to: Completley Lost!! – wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com newbieAre you needing to redirect or forward the first domain name to the second? If I understand you, you transferred the first to GD so you could redirect/forward within your GD account.

In reply to: Host Migration headachesI’m not sure if this will work for you but I’ve found the plugin WP Clone to be pretty miraculous at letting me clone sites to move them.
