Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Login problem perhaps a bug (I think)?Yep, same problem, and I checked the various things. Resetting “home” back to where I have wp installed always fixed the login bit.
I should add that when I tried the sending password thing, that password did not work either AND there was something wrong with the emails I was sent.
One Contained the password and url to go to, but “login:” was blank. The other had even less information, saying that a password was reset, a bunch of blank lines and then a period (.).
Also, the emails had no proper from name & address, even though I had configured the admin email (and I double-checked the db).
So, I am thinking that there’s a problem with the getting settings function(s).Mm, now I can join in the fun. ??
When I try and post PHP code (using the pre-code format — indenting at least 4 from the main text and using a semi-colon at the end of the prev. paragraph), it keeps adding in a space between the opening < and the ?.
The code does otherwise indent properly, so this is just a minor annoyance. ??
And yes, I have both Textiles off.Forum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: www.ads-software.com – FirefoxYES! This is terrible.
My mouse won’t scroll, the background image is doing something weird, url bar does not update when I go to a new page, and my CPU usage just jumped to over 50%.
And only on WP.org. ??Ah, okay, sorry. ??

In reply to: WYSI-WordPress Hack (My First Hack)Where?
Markdown is a Perl program.
Unless you’re referring to Textile or the built-in Texturize??
“WordPress uses the Texturize engine to intelligently convert plain ASCII into typographically correct XHTML entities. This includes quotes, apostrophes, ellipses, em and en dashes, multiplication symbols, and ampersands.”Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: assorting links in wp-admin/link-manager.phpIf you was doing it the straight SQL-way (hacking the code) then you’d add a second parameter (or as many as you want).
.ie: ORDER BY cat name ASC
Which would order by cat, then with that, order by name.
But, I haven’t a clue on a simple way to hack that into WP, sorry.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Disemvoweler?I don’t think I could do it (I am just learning/practising RegEx), but it seems to me that wouldn’t be too difficult — it uses RegEx and PHP can do this too.
Someone wanna take this on?
Here’s a copy of the MT plugin Mark refers to, in case you aren’t familiar with it. ??

In reply to: Is this perma structure still crawler-friendly?Normally, a slash at the end would indicate that the uri points to a directory (and so find the actual page, is it index.html?, etc). Without a slash would mean that that’s the file’s actual name.
So, that makes sense to me (and maybe preferable to an ending slash). But, you know, don’t take that as gospel or anything. ??Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: navigation?Re: #2, the Wiki. Click on “Docs”. 4th paragraph.
“The WordPress Wiki is a free-form nascent documentation effort. If you want to casually contribute to the documentation, writing something on the wiki is a great place to start. Wikis are not terribly user-friendly though, so if the website intimidates you, don’t worry about it.”Forum: Everything else WordPress
