  • Themes not showing in multisite dashboards
I too am having the same issue.

    • I am not a novice but website design is not my primary occupation.
    • I have an adequate knowledge of html, css and child themes.
    • I have mounted a number of multisites using subdomains for language changes.
    • I have tried all the suggestions made by t-p above.
    • I have tried logging in to my dashboards in different browsers.
    • The problem is that in Network Admin I can see 4 installed themes, two WP themes, twenty seventeen, twenty sixteen (I deleted twenty fifteen) and 2 independent themes. In the english language dashboard only one theme shows up, the active one, and in this case twenty seventeen. There is no way to change themes. In the spanish dashboard I can see 3 themes. Twenty sixteen does not appear?

I am in the process of installing a child theme, twenty-seventeen-child. The directory is on the server. The style.css and functions.php files have been included. This does not show in the Network Admin.

Any view or help would be greatly appreciated. I include a screen shot for clarification.

    RESOLVED

This was a serverside error due to memory allocation settings.

    Gotta love Khunchay’s manners.
Talk about looking a gifthorse in the mouth

The above fix didn’t work for me but I have noticed that if the media contains:

    [caption id="something" align="alignsomething" width="something"]etc[/caption]

    …it breaks the columns.

If the caption call is removed and media is just linked, all is ok.

I am having a similar issue but in the double column mode.

Text or images in the first column display fine. In the second column images placed in there either have a huge caption box, the size of the column or it displays the image at the smallest possible size. This seems only to effect the POST pages. However if I put text in the second column and not media everything seems fine.

I am using a masonry layout for the front page.

My 3 column display works fine but they are on PAGES not POSTS.

I’m going to try the fix suggested above to see if it works.

    Still no luck.

SERIOUSLY UGLY WORKROUND: I renamed the Panamá flag in the plugin directory to the spanish one. At least I have the right flag now.

Unfortunately I haven’t the time or the budget to continue experimenting with defining the custom directory.

    Hi Dennis,

Yes, I tried defining a directory, I even put directories in various places within public_html, That’s to say in the web root, in the wp-content directory, in the theme directory. I also copied the URL to the Panamá flag within the MSLS plugin directory. All resulted in “broken images”.

I am still playing with this to try and get it working. Normally my translations are for Spain so no problem. If I manage to get it working I’ll post here with how I ended up solving it.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank you for this plugin – to me it is the most logical way of making my sites multi-language – and I have used it a lot.

    Vielen dank!

I have used Dennis Ploetner’s Multisite Language Switcher often. I find it a super-logical way of organising my translations. (Thanks Dennis)

I have only just seen the MslsMenu plugin.

Up to now I have worked with my sites as Child-themes (google that if you don’t know – much safer way to work) including header.php and functions.php in the child.

The header and functions can be modified to include more widget areas and more menus. See this link for example. Adding widgets

Yes, it’s a bit worrisome the first time round but after a few goes you’ll be slapping new menus and widget areas into your themes, pretty much where ever you want.

    Good luck.

    NO, I’m afraid you can’t.

The way this works is it maps your main domain to a sub-domain(s).

For example I work in english and spanish. My main site will be for example: blabla.com
My spanish site occupies the sub-domain off blabla.com with the URL es.blabla.com

In effect your are creating a sub-domain in the second (or as many as you like) language(s) with all your posts and pages recreated and translated into the second language.

Personally, I set up the main site and then copy/paste the html into the subdomain and swap the english text for spanish text.

To me, this plugin is super-logical, once you get your head round the multi-site. I have used it frequently, one site being in 6 languages.

Why don’t you want to set up a multi-site? It isn’t that hard.

I’m having the same issues too, I was getting the same error message

“Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

Using my FTP client I found that there was NO directory called “uploads” at /wp-content/uploads/ so I created one and then put in it the directories 2009 with 12 inside that (it’s december now).

I then FTPed the images I wanted there and used the MEDIA LIBRARY tab in UPLOAD. Nothing.

I then tried to use the URL (I have wordpress on my site) to link to the same photo in my main site’s assets directory. Nothing.

Have to admit that I’m new to blogging but fairly handy with websites and computers. I’ve also wasted more time than I want to at this stage reading many forum posts and playing around.

I too am at my wit’s end ??
