Sorry for the late reply, for now, there is only one workaround, please install the Classic editor plugin, using the classic editor you can set the primary category, once you save the post, you can again edit the post using the Gutenberg editor.

Unfortunately, there is no option to disable the pillar content feature, but I have added this feature request in our internet list, we will see what we can do about it.

Really sorry for not replying early.

It looks like you found the code, but I would recommend adding any extra CSS customizations in the ‘Additional CSS’ field present in the customizer or in the theme options (If your theme offers that option), that way your changes will be preserved in the future after updating the plugin.
