Ah ha! This is easy. You are using the Catalyst Excerpts plugin that comes with Catalyst. This forum and related plugin is Catalyst Excerpts Plus which I built to add the extended options to the original plugin.
All you need to do is download and install my plugin, Catalyst Excerpts Plus and then use it’s widget, instead of the one from Catalyst and you will see everything that is missing.
Sorry for the confusion. Like you, I’m just another Catalyst developer, not actually one of the Catalyst developers, which is why you have to install my plugin from the repository instead of it being included with Catalyst.
Sorry for the confusion.
No, there’s no other options necessary to make it appear. I know this is unlikely, but are you 100% sure that it’s the latest version, (1.3.3)?
You can see on this demo page here(https://imnotmarvin.com/catalyst-excerpts-plus/) that one of the examples uses this feature and uses HTML in the excerpts to make changes the text.
The coding of this plugin is pretty simple so the only thing I can think of is to manually delete the plugin folder and replace it. The reason I don’t suggest uninstalling it is because if you do this it will remove any settings you’ve already created in the database.
If you like, I would be happy to take a look at it myself. Just let me know and I’ll contact you through your website privately to get the required details.

In reply to: [Catalyst Excerpts Plus] [Plugin: Catalyst Excerpts Plus] messed up widgetsHi Pete,
Did you get this resolved? Sorry for the delay in spotting your post. I’d be glad to look into this further with you.
Michael
I see you marked this resolved so I assume you worked out the issue preventing the change from working. If you still have a problem please let me know.

In reply to: [Catalyst Excerpts Plus] [Plugin: Catalyst Excerpts Plus] Custom Post TypeThe ability to work with custom post types can be hit or miss. It really depends on the structure of the post type itself.
If the custom post type closely follows the structure of a standard WP post, then it is more likely that this feature will work, but if the custom post type uses custom fields and strays from the fields used by WP, then they won’t display as excerpts.
This feature was originally added for a client who’s situation allowed it to work on their site, but we quickly found that there are many custom post types that do not work.
We are currently developing a pro version with admin pages to provide more options and better controls. On the drawing board is a plan to create a system to map custom fields to the fields displayed by the plugin which we hope will open up this feature to working with any custom post type.
Have you resolved this? Marking this complete as a duplicate of a more recent post.
Hi Kitka,
Thanks for pointing out the difference in the screenshot. There has been an additional feature added, the ability to allow Horizontal Display added since that screenshot was taken. I will update this screenshot in the next release.
The option to allow HTML within the excerpt content, however, is still there and working. It’s near the lower left corner just above the Horizontal Display option.
Hope that helps.

In reply to: [Facebook] [Plugin: Facebook] Recommendation Bar showing "Image Links"Sorry… done.

In reply to: [Facebook] [Plugin: Facebook] Recommendation Bar showing "Image Links"My recommendations box is recommending a link to the index page to an old app. I’ve tried deleting that and every other app I am no longer supporting from Facebook and it still recommends the page and links directly to that page on my server, even though that page is not even housed in my WordPress install.
See it here: https://imnotmarvin.com
The link I am seeing most and refer to above is the one with an image of a cockroach, but I have also seen another one that linked to a non-existing page.
How can I limit the recommendations to only the WordPress posts for the site I install it on?

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] [Plugin: Contact Form 7] Multisite conflict?I’m having the same problem. I get the same warning twice since updating this morning.
Also, after updating posts, I get Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at [snip]/public_html/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/includes/capabilities.php:14) in [snip]/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 866
and nothing additional loads on the page.
Yeah, this might not actually be a bug, but the amateur looking page that you can’t get rid of without clearing the browsers cookies looks like something created to do harm.
This had me scanning my computer for viruses repeatedly before I tried disabling plugins. I sure had a higher opinion of this plugin before all this.
And the fact that they don’t respond to emails after their website encourages us to email them… all this has me smelling something phony and maybe it needs to be removed from the repository.
Has anyone gone through the code line for line to see if they are even legit?
Hey Nick,
I’m sorry, but I’m racking my brain trying to remember what I did specifically and it’s not coming to me. I know I had a bigger issue that wasn’t really this plugins problem.
I was working in Catalyst and creating custom loops in a custom functions.php and was doing something wrong within that loop.
I really believe in adding solutions to forums like this, but it’s been so long and I’ve done so much to that site since that I’m just not clear on what I did.
If you want to post more details about your problem, maybe it will spark something?
Figured this out. Actually once I worked out some issues displaying the custom types within the framework of my theme, it just worked.

In reply to: Missing editor (Appearance > Editor)What if your blog is not networked? This problem is showing in several WP install sites and there is no Admin option in the upper right corner.
