In reply to: [Idealist] Background ImagesHi Josaudio,
It looks like you have removed the search icon from the header, so try adding this (in Appearance/Customize/Additional CSS):
.main-menu .container {
display: flex;
justify-content: center;
}If, on the other hand, you do want the search icon in the header, it is recommended that you keep the menu left-aligned (as is).
Also, in the future please add new questions in a new thread. Otherwise, they very likely will not be seen.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Idealist] Background ImagesHi Josaudio,
Thanks for the update. That plugin was tested and worked with the theme straight out of the box, but I see you have already made a fair number of customizations to your site, so I’m glad you found something that works for your situation.
Cheers!

In reply to: [Idealist] Background ImagesHi Josaudio,
Your site looks great! Thanks for sending the link.
The background image option I mentioned earlier is a global setting. So, it can’t be used to set a different image for each page. The functionality to do that would be with a plugin.
I found a couple of free plugins that may do this for you, but neither has been updated recently. If you try these, please be sure to backup your site first and test first outside of your live site.
Plugins to try:
Background Per Page
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/background-per-page/
By Fish Can’t Whistle
If you can’t find this by searching the plugin repo, download it from the above link and then upload the plugin. I did a quick test and was able to set different background photos on my contact and about pages. If you have already set a Background Image in the Customizer (for example, per my prior message), you will need to remove it first, for this plugin to work. More info: https://www.lightningrank.com/how-to-add-different-background-images-to-wordpress-post-and-pages/Full Background Manager
I believe this plugin is designed to work with pre-set patterns and colors (not images).I have limited experience with both of these plugins, but worth a try/test.
Let me know how it goes.

In reply to: [Idealist] Logo sizeHi Josaudio,
Thanks for the update and no problem with the timing. Yes, there is a way to add images in the background of the pages.
From the WordPress Dashboard:
1 – Select Appearance / Customize
2 – Select Background Image and Select Image
You can then select an image in your Media Library or upload a new file.
3 – Save & Publish
The image will tile, by default.I hope that helps and let me know if you have any more questions (in a new thread) or have new feature requests.
Cheers

In reply to: [Idealist] Menu PlacementHi Jay,
The theme is designed to use the mobile menu for screen widths of 1200 pixels or less.
The stack on the left you are seeing on your iPad Pro is the mobile menu because the iPad Pro width in portrait orientation is 1024 pixels. (If you rotate your iPad to view the page in landscape orientation, the horizontal menu should re-appear because that width is over 1200 pixels.)You raise a good point – this could be configurable. I will add this to the future enhancement list, but it won’t happen right away. If it is urgent, you might consider a child theme for Idealist or another theme that has the exact breakpoint you desire.

In reply to: [Idealist] Sidebar on postsHi Trench,
The latest update (1.1.3) displays the sidebar, comments, and the post date on the single post page, using the two-panel template. The original (default) template has not been changed, and remains the same since the initial release. It never displayed the date in the header on the single post page. I think you make an excellent point though – that people wanting a sidebar will also, most likely, want the post date in the header. As is, the default post template is minimalist – designed for just a title and article (and comments, if allowed in settings).
Thanks again for your ideas and feedback!

In reply to: [Idealist] Sidebar on postsHello Trench,
I’ve just updated the Idealist and it now allows a sidebar on single page posts.
On the “Add New Post” or “Edit Post” page, select the “Two Panel Template” (under Post Attributes on lower right). It works the same way on Pages and Posts.
Let me know if you have any questions and thanks again for the feedback!

In reply to: [Idealist] Sidebar on postsHello Trench,
Thanks so much for your interest and post. I was very excited to see your site using the Idealist, and full of content! Excellent.
The theme does not currently include the option to put a sidebar on single post pages, but it is a great idea. The reasoning was to keep it streamlined but I think this may be of use to many others as well. I’m putting it on the TODO list – although it may not be added right away. Stay tuned.
