Solved – a plugin I had installed when I originally changed the permalinks a couple of months ago was stopping the RSS from working (and annoyingly it was the advanced permalinks plugin which I wanted to use to set 301 redirects to the new pages/posts). So, I’ve deleted that and it’ll all fine again.
