In reply to: BlogDesk can’t work with xmlrpc.php – error 403Hi guys,
I was looking for information on this same problem. I learned that a 403 error is a forbidden error, meaning the file exists and can be accessed, but the action isn’t allowed.Chances are, your host is still blocking posting to the XML-RPC file.
I also found a comment on a blog entry saying the same thing. Maybe, try e-mailing your host and let them know the new version of WordPress is secure and ask them to unblock post requests to the XML-RPC file.
I’m planning to contact my host and hopefully it will resolve the problem.

In reply to: Add URL link pop up doesn’t size correctly in FirefoxI had this problem as well (believe it’s a problem specifically with Firefox) and found an article on how to fix it, but lost the link and am in the same boat again.
I vaguely remember that if you go to Options > Content > Javacript > Advanced and make sure there isn’t a check mark next to “Resize windows” that should solve it.
If that doesn’t work, you can do a hack that allows you to manually resize the window (always) if it’s too small. Type “about:config” (without quotes) in the address bar and type “dom.disable_window_open_feature.resizable”, double click on it so it switches to true.
Hope that helps someone out ??

In reply to: Add URL link pop up doesn’t size correctly in FirefoxActually – I’m having the same problem too. If anyone has found a workaround or what setting in FF may be causing this, it would be appreciated.
I’m currently using WP 2.0.2 and Firefox 1.5

In reply to: Dreamhost pulled my site and I don’t know why.Ouch, I feel for you!
Have you tried running the domain with the plugins disabled and seeing that affects the problem. Then maybe downgrading to WP 1.5 to see if it’s an issue with WP 2.0?
I really can’t offer more help than that unfortunately.
As for hosts, consider hostgator – they offer phone support and they’re pretty good. (I am not affiliated and I make no guarantees)

In reply to: Futured Dated Posts And CategoriesThanks for chiming in petit. You’re right, the “sorry,…” will disappear as the posts are published, but I just found it odd and wanted to make sure I didn’t do something wrong.

In reply to: Trackback TutorialIn case there is anyone else looking for one, there is a WordPress trackback tutorial published that goes over how to post a trackback/pingback to other sites.
I don’t know if the plugin still exists, but I remember seeing one that allowed you to separate the trackbacks/comments. I don’t remember the link or know if it would be compatible with WP 2.0 though.

In reply to: how to check if banned by ping services? As you have noticed, there are a few ping services (weblogs.com in particular) which are monitored by spam bots
I wondered why I would always get an onslaught of spam each time I published a new entry to the blog…that clears that bit up.
My other question is with updating previous entries; how come WordPress pings when an entry is updated?
It would make sense as not to piss off the update services. If anyone has a link to the plugin that’s been mentioned above (the “smart update”) – I’d appreciate it.
I tend to edit entries and click on “Save” quite a bit before I think I get it right and I don’t want the ping servers to think I’m spamming.

In reply to: Cannot upload files of this typeout of curiosity, but how much of the code needed to be rewritten for the wordpress.com website? And if I were to download and use the WordPress MU, would I be able to set up something similar to wordpress.com?

In reply to: Excellent Video Tutorials !Wow, thanks for sharing that link. How are they as a host? Reliable? Uptime? Customer Service?
I also found a wordpress installation video which was pretty straight forward. There’s also an entire section for wordpress videos, but it doesn’t look like it has a lot right now.
I’d be interested in finding more video tutorials about WordPress if anyone knows of any.
