In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Liking posts by othersOK, techno insanity (inanity?) strikes again. I tried it in Canary (the upcoming new and improved (?) version of Chrome and it worked. Then I went back to the regular Chrome and tried it again and this time I also could do likes worked again! I’m not crazy, but sometimes I think my computer or some software is!
So, just to be clear about this, must I be signed in to WordPress.com for likes to work? Even if I do say remain signed in, apparently I am not staying signed in or something’s weird because the way the sign in popup quickly disappears.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Liking posts by othersClearing cookies and logging in didn’t help. When I try to like something, even when logged in, a popup comes up and quickly closes. No like appears. Here’s a couple posts where likes failed: https://dgkayewriter.com/booklaunch-introducing-p-s-forgive-book/ and https://thestoryreadingapeblog.com/2015/03/21/blog-advice-1-increasing-your-traffic/
What kind of details do you need about my account? Username is jackbuddha.
just to get follow-ups
Ditto. Additional information–there are now three columns on the subscriber list:
Team (people authorized to post, etc. I assume)
Followers and Email followersI don’t know what the significance or distinction between the two is, but I suspect it’s possible that the followers don’t get the email of posts.
I guess we won’t know until the Jetpack staff returns after the 26th.
Well, I have no clue how to do that? Upload it where and run it how? I am somewhat less than a webmaster ??
Jetpack support was unable to resolve the problem. Interestingly, posts from “site A” could not be displayed on “sites B” and “C” but posts from “B” did display on “A.” Bewildering. So I used the RSS widget to display the posts from “A” on “B” and the text widget to insert script for an RSS feed (with text excerpts, etc.) from “A” on “C”
So if you are having this problem with the display recent posts widget, be aware that there are other relatively simple ways to get content from one blog to another.

In reply to: [IssueM] Jetpack Like button not working on ANY past issue articlesIt seems there is a fix available from Jetpack. The one they suggested works. Go that forum to see the discussion.
OK, johnswriting.com is back up with a new theme update. On the chance that it is a theme problem, I activated the WordPress Twenty Fifteen theme and that had no effect on enabling posts from this site to be displayed on the views from eagle peak site.
I filled in the support form you suggested and submitted it a few minutes ago.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] WordPress likes not workingIt did work! I am mystified as to why my www.ads-software.com/support userid should make this work, however. If you can explain that to me and/or add some other clarification that may help others with this same problem. Then we can consider it resolved.
Thanks.
I’m still waiting to get Johnswriting back online. When I that happens and the new theme update is installed maybe that will cure the problem. If not, I will respond via your form and contact the theme developer as well.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Decode] Latest update failed/broke site@ Onoruch01 If you can’t access your site, like I couldn’t mine, you probably can most easily revert to the previous version by getting your webhost to reset it to the prior version–assuming they have a restore point before your failed update. That’s what I am doing; letting them do the work. It may not be free, but they know more about what they’re doing than I do and can do it way quicker.
There is probably a way to use a backup version to restore your site through CPanel but that’s not something I am up to speed on.Well, not right now it appears. I just tried to update the theme and got this message
Warning: require(/home/eagle30/public_html/johnswriting.com/wp/wp-content/themes/decode/inc/tgm-plugin-activation/tgm-plugin-activation.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/eagle30/public_html/johnswriting.com/wp/wp-content/themes/decode/functions.php on line 183Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required ‘/home/eagle30/public_html/johnswriting.com/wp/wp-content/themes/decode/inc/tgm-plugin-activation/tgm-plugin-activation.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/eagle30/public_html/johnswriting.com/wp/wp-content/themes/decode/functions.php on line 183
So I guess will need some help from my webhost to fix this.
I installed the transient manager on the Views from Eagle Peak site and the Eagle Peak Press site and found NO transients identified as being created for the Display Posts Widget. I did delete all expired transients.
Then I selectively deactivated one plugin after another (I skipped a couple, like Akismet, which should have nothing to do with this. Results: NO CHANGE. NOTE: I didn’t deactivate as many plugins on the second site assuming that any that were on it but not on the other were not likely the cause since both sites had the same problem with the Display Posts Widget.
I also deactivated and reactivated JSON API on Jetpack settings on all three sites and that made no difference. Of the three sites, it’s odd that the Display Posts Widget works on Johnswriting but I can’t posts from that site to display on the other site!

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] WordPress likes not workingOkay, here’s a link to an article: https://eaglepeakpress.com/article/dont-be-a-settler/
And here’s what I see when I look at the page:
Like this:
LIKE Loading…One more wrinkle on this. I have the “recent posts” widget running on https://views.eaglepeakpress.com to show 3 posts from https://johnswriting.com/wp there also. Now what I see on that site is this: Cannot load blog information at this time
Again, this used to work fine. On this site I do not show excerpts from johnswriting, just links to the posts. On the eaglepeakpress site I do show excerpts. So I assume that’s not the problem. ALL sites show up as registered on WordPress.com.
Coincidentally (or not), I have links on johnswriting to recent posts on views.eaglepeakpress. Those links DO work.
So is it possible I have a database problem to take up with my web host? Or is this still some kind of Jetpack issue?
