Actually, while it worked for awhile yesterday on some current issue articles, after doing a Jetpack disconnect/reconnect to solve another problem, it now works on NONE. To be clear, WordPress “Likes” (not Facebook, etc., WordPress) are not working on ANY articles.

Likes DO work on the front page, so this looks more like an IssueM problem than a Jetpack problem.

The Like button is activated. It was working on some articles but after doing the disconnect and reconnect process it now shows on none. Just hangs on the “loading” thing.

Note: the Like button does work on the front page, so there’s probably a good chance this is a problem with the integration of the IssueM plugin and WordPress. The article structure they superimpose is effectively a custom post, as I understand it, but I am far from an expert on this.

No, actually it isn’t fixed. What you see are four recent posts (that’s what I have set for)–the last one dated May 28, 2016. The excerpts are there as they should be and the links to the post open in a new window as set in the options. BUT, there have been four more items posted since May 28 and they don’t show up. The error message still shows up.

I did the disconnect and reconnect process and the problem persists. If it were just a cache issue, the error message should disappear. Plus I’m not using a cache anyway.

The weird thing is that this Jetpack widget DID work when I set the site up in May and just stopped sometime in early June.

Beyond that, if you have any kind of slider widget, you can even do a rotating set of ALL past covers with a link to the respective issue. I did that in a sidebar using a slider from Widgetkit. Any of the usual sliders should be able to do that I did. I use the past issue rotator on my static home/landing page and the current issue cover in the sidebar for the current issue.

I now understand this is as it is supposed to be.

I finally went with a paid theme and am using a static home (front page) so I don’t need the articles to show up on that page. Still, you might want to work on a revised instruction for this.

I assume it still exists but I stopped using it. I became a premium member of Styled Themes and switched to Pure and Simple theme. Only a few issues there and it has lots of good features.

Decided not to both left and right sidebars.

I am using the 2.5.1 version you just updated yesterday or the day before. Didn’t help.

Blog right also doesn’t work on Encounters Lite. When will these things get fixed?

It seems that ensuring the date/time of publishing an article will rule over article order. Don’t know why the article order doesn’t work, but the manual date/time change/update takes care of putting articles in the desired order.

OK, got it–DUH! Leave the title blank in the active issue widget.

Still hoping for an answer. I tried another theme, Encounters Lite, and set up a child theme. Again, the addition of the recommended code broke the theme and gave me a 500 error. Unfortunately, I made a bad edit to the functions.php in removing it and had to have my webhost activate another theme. I went back to Encounters Lite and it looks good but I really would like to have the ability to have a blog page in addition to the static front page for the sake of additional widget functionality.

Can you give me a better code suggestion and specifics on placement? Thanks.

Ok, I found the tutorial and the showcase of sites using IssueM (they’re excellent and helpful). That answered the question.

I’ve been using WordPress for several years and already have two other blogs so I am very familiar with creating posts and pages. The one I am working on now moves content from a Joomla CMS to WordPress. Sorry, just can’t make your theme work. Thanks anyway.
