Thanks, that makes me wonder if she hadn’t actually looked at her site in the last couple weeks. My fault for believing her when she said it started yesterday after the widget change. I’d imagine that one post would have immediately started causing issues after being published, yes?

Edited to add:

-checked individual posts over the past few days (she installed the widget today), none of them seem to be causing the issue
-she knows nothing of CSS or any coding, so she wouldn’t have been messing with the Editor or any files via FTP. according to her, she just changed the code in a Text widget for a ‘hidden’ badge. the code she showed me doesn’t have any div or table tags that would have been an issue.

Shoot, forgot to add – the menu has looked the best in Firefox so far. Chrome and IE aren’t even close.

You know, I didn’t even think about that. The ajax login form is the one that hangs. I just checked the page/post based form, and it doesn’t hang but keeps bouncing back to the same page after an attempted login. Weird.

I will go check with my host on enabling some server logging. I’ll also go shoot a message to the designer of my shop software. I don’t remember having these issues until I updated that software.

Thanks again for the help! Being able to get into the backend without headache is at least one less headache for me today.

Thanks, that does seem to fix the backend login. My frontend (shop) login still seems to be hanging, though. Any ideas on what would cause that? I’m stumped.

Thanks esmi – I was reading that link as I posted this. Is it really as simple as editing the functions.php (and .htaccess)?

There’s really no option within WP to make the blog private? I’m really quite surprised.
